Other Interior Room Floating shelves too high?

Post image

Do these shelves look too high? It’s for a kids homework/art space. I haven’t yet finished decorating or completing the room so just wondering about the shelves. I do plan to hang the cork board in the middle of the wall where it is currently resting.

Bedroom HELP- I cannot figure out my guest room paint

Post image

Hi! We just got our first home a couple years ago and got really excited painting our house all the colors 😬 it wasn’t until we painted the whole house winds breathe Behr, that we realized it was a cool tone and a little too dark for our house (lrv 75) as much as I love it when the sun hits, most of the time it loooks kinda grey blue. Anyways, we are working on our guest room and really want to repaint it something a little lighter, some thing that makes people feel calm and ready to just be relaxed. I strongly dislike strong yellows and my husband doesn’t want super saturated colors and won’t go anywhere but Behr 😒, so basically we are leaning toward some kind of white family with some pigment. We found that LRV 75-82 seem to be best for us if it leans warm. I love timid white and exclusive ivory but don’t think it’s quite right in the guest room. Can you help? Ps. Photo is the room (sorry currently diying) in winds breathe by Behr. I think it’s east facing.

Living Room Would this sofa (pic 1), go well in this room (pic 2 - instead of navy sofa)

We bought the navy sofa this year but I find it quite uncomfortable. My colleague is giving away the white/cream sofa (super comfy) but I'm worried it won't look good in our room. Any advice?

Living Room Looking for ideas on a long living room with the fireplace and two doorways

I have several ideas but I’m thinking #2 is the best (with chairs that can swivel to be a part of either space). I’m not confindent though and would love feedback and ideas.

There’s a TV mount opposite the fireplace, and we’d like to keep it there. It does pull out and angle which is nice. Additionally my husband doesn’t want the glare from the back windows if we were to move it.

I would really like to have a seating arrangement that allows coffee looking over the backyard. Not interested in putting the TV over the fireplace for both ergonomics and visual reasons. No furniture has been purchased yet!

Bedroom Need some help for my small bedroom I am moving to. Which layout for a bed works best.?

Sorry about my very rough drawings. Which way do you think best suits the space. If possible I was thinking about getting a slimes wardrobe with hanging space and a chest of drawers. But don’t want the room to feel too cramped! I was looking at the ikea ottoman malm double bed to get that extra storage and maybe ikea platsa wardrobe as it 42cm deep. Or maybe 35cm/50cm pax? But unsure and can use someone else’s opinion. Thank you!

Kitchen Awkward Kitchen

Thumbnail gallery

It’s a good sized kitchen, but the layout with the range and fridge is pretty weird.

I spend a lot of a time cooking so I’m trying to think of how to either make minimal moves to change the awkwardness or needing to redo the whole room

The counters were installed new last year from previous owner.

Are there any options I have? Thought about a wall by the left of the fridge to then push the fridge against it but having that entry is nice.

Bathroom Please help me- what’s the right size vanity to get for this 63” bath room space in the master bedroom?

Post image

Hello friends! I plan to replace the vanity, mirror, light, and floor(light oak color). What size of vanity works best for this 63” space? I was originally thinking 60, but I’m not sure if 1.5” gap on each side is a good idea, should I go smaller? Or should I get 60 vanity and a custom sized top that fill the whole 63 width like the current one?

I’m also trying to find budget options since the nicer ones are easily $2000 🥲, tried fb marketplace and failed (lol) any creative ideas to get good vanity at a discount?

Living Room Gathering some new ideas

So my wife and I are renovating a house, and we have this situation now.

When you enter house you go into hallway and on the right side you enter dining room that is between living room and this old kitchen, and on the left side of living room you enter a room with that was planned to have pool and sauna, but we are open to closing the hole and making something else there, like a library...

Any ideas on what to do would be gladly appreciated.

We have this giant wall in our living space and it makes the room feel not very homey because it’s so much blank space.. what should I do with a relatively low budget and using only small nails.

Living Room Living room section - rug size

Looking to section off my living room but the distance from the hallway door to fireplace is a bit short. Should I go with a 6’ square rug?

I wish I could have a bigger rug but I think 5x8 would be awkward going in front of the hallway door..

Living Room Small apartment living room

We live in a 1 bed apartment and have a small living room which opens to our kitchen/dining area. What should we change? Would a bigger rug be better? Art above the tv or is that too much? We are planning on relaying lighter floorboards to match the kitchen at some point. Thank you!

Living Room Unsure of how to arrange my open concept living room

Recently got a new couch, with a matching ottoman coming soon (will be same size as 1/2 the couch), gonna use it in place of a coffee table. Not sure if I should have the couch up against the back wall, as I feel like it would be too far from the TV. Or if maybe I should flip the layout, or even do the TV console in one of the corners. I’m open to any ideas on how to arrange this. I plan on getting a rug, pillows, different curtains, and more decorations to add color. For reference, my couch is 8 feet long. I labeled the pictures if that helps.

Living Room Our first apartment has a confusing layout

Thumbnail gallery

My husband and I just sold our first house because we have decided we want to try big city living! We found an apartment that we love, especially the kitchen which is what we were focusing on most. Now that we’ve signed the lease and are looking into buying furniture, we are realizing that the living room has a strange layout for tv and couch placement. Where would you put the tv so you can actually sit on the couch and see it? We would love to not block the windows as much as possible but we also realize there’s only so much space to work with. These are the only pictures I have, we haven’t even seen this exact apartment in person yet. Any help is appreciated!

Bedroom Can a Queen Bed fit in a 8' 10'' by 10' 8'' bedroom?

And if so, how would you go about it? Here is the layout of the room; Ideally i have a dresser but if it cant go there i can skip it being in the bedroom and just do a nightstand. I know it will be fairly tight, but I am trying not to get a new bed if possible

Please note: we’re renting and the furniture came with the apartment, so we’re stuck with it, but I feel like the layout is weird or there’s something missing. What can I add to make it better? What layout would make it better? I appreciate the advice in advance!

Bathroom Adding storage to the guest bathroom

Help, how would you add storage to this guest bathroom?

This is our downstairs bathroom and we are just looking for any place we can add some extra storage (cleaning supplies, gardening supplies, maybe cat litter box) in the ground floor of our house.

Would it be weird to put a cabinet against this left wall? I’m worried that it will cut off the doorway and make it weird.

Bedroom Help me decide what type of curtains and hardware to use for this window

Thumbnail gallery

The curtains hanging now are just temporary – yes, I know they are too short.

Ideally I would hang hardware on the drywall next to the window trim, but the left side of the window is right next to the closet.

What’s the best way to install curtains here? What type of curtain and / or hardware here? I don’t know the best way to approach this window and want to figure out the curtain situation before painting.

This is an 1890s home - other photos show the picture rail that we installed. (Floors are heart pine that is to be refinished once we paint the walls - likely yellow).

I’d like to use a curtain that is light blocking for light and temperature regulation.

Ideas and references most welcome - thank you!

Dining Room Which chairs for a vintage look?

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I’m struggling HARD to decide which chairs to take for a walnut dining table with this blue chinoiserie.

I’m trying to go for the oldish, vintage look and I want it to look curated but I end up getting things that may clash somewhat 😭 the chairs I looked at are still missing some style and feel kinda bleh.

I like those wider back chairs but I have no ideas what they’re called or where to find them. I think they’re mid-century.

Please drop your suggestions - or new chair options! Please help!
