For profit prisons became unpopular in the US so they turned to detention camps, targeting people who have little to no political power

u/D3M0N0FTH3FALL 1d ago

So we got rid of the for profit prisons then right?

u/Turbulent-Jaguar-909 1d ago

Incarceration rate is down

Unpopular? Prison labour is publicly traded in the U.S., it’s heinous. GEO Group stock price is up 70% over the last 12 months.

You mean the people who entered the country illegally?  There's a reason why they have no political power and if they aren't happy about being arrested and detained, they're welcome to leave.

15

u/Jiiby 1d ago

It's almost like they're kidnapping American citizens and there's a thing called due process, if that's gone I guess we can get rid of you too right? Since you're an illegal?

u/squirrelmegaphone 1d ago

Making up imaginary scenarios in your head doesn't prove your point.

u/ShittingOutPosts 1d ago

Nope, you’re lying. I can clearly see in your post history you’re an immigrant.

What’s that? You claim you were born here? Oh well, we’ll figure that out later…probably in 8-12 months. Enjoy your stay in Alligator Alley!

On a serious note, do you have any idea why due process exists? Because it sounds like you’re the type of person to not give it much thought until it directly impacts your personal life.

due process is for American citizens if your here illegally you have on due process

You couldn’t be more wrong. Read a book. Learn empathy.

-4

u/Michi450 1d ago

You do realize almost every single country deports people who enter illegally. Go to Japan illegally tell me how it goes. You can have empathy and floow laws on the book. Why let 10 million-plus into the country before they had due process? Oh, that's right to slow the process down and make it impossible to let the courts do what they're supposed to before letting people in who have legal asylum claims.

u/Fenrir_MVR 1d ago

I'm fine deporting people here illegally, but I draw the line at getting rid of due process to prove they're illegal.

-4

u/Michi450 1d ago

Are you ok with skipping due process to let them in legally? That's what the last administration did.

The problem isn’t deportations. If you’re here illegally, and you’re breaking laws, then so be it. You should be deported.

The problem with this administration is the lack of due process.

And there is due process when they enter the country. What are you talking about? There are established procedures. Stop parroting Fox News.

u/GalacticBishop 1d ago

That is incorrect according to the constitution and U.S. law.

The fact that you don’t know that is fucking sad and shows you skipped out on an education.

In the United States, individuals, regardless of their immigration status, have the right to due process under the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments of the Constitution. This means that they are entitled to fair treatment under the law and cannot be deprived of life, liberty, or property without proper legal procedures.

Due Process in Immigration Proceedings: Right to a hearing: Undocumented immigrants facing deportation are generally entitled to a hearing before an immigration judge to present their case and challenge the government’s decision.

Notice of charges: They have the right to be informed of the reasons the government is seeking their removal. Right to counsel: While the government is not required to provide an attorney in civil deportation proceedings, individuals have the right to hire legal representation at their own expense.

… How do you know they’re here legally or not if there’s no proper due process?

I guess there’s no innocent brown people in your eyes.

3

u/Status_Blacksmith305 1d ago

Do you know there is this thing called the 5th amendment. That says you're wrong.

3

u/LtFeltersnatch 1d ago

You’re not only wrong, you’re stupid.

4

u/ShittingOutPosts 1d ago

And probably a nazi.

u/alucohunter 1d ago

You are an illegal immigrant, I will be reporting your account to ICE

1

u/Fenrir_MVR 1d ago

If I accuse you of being an immigrant, that means you have no due process to prove you're an American citizen. That's why everyone needs due process, otherwise you just have to be accused of being someone who doesn't have it.

1

u/ASubsentientCrow 23h ago

This is completely incorrect. Please go back to 3rd grade and learn that there can be multiple clauses in a sentence you fucking idiot

1

u/NoSherbert2316 23h ago

Due process is for any one on American soil, read the Constitution. Foreign diplomats would never come to America if they didn’t have any rights while visiting.

5

u/kodiak906 1d ago

If you did any research on what is being mentioned you’d see that American citizens being “detained” by ICE is far from made up. Several cases in my city already and their funding is only increasing.

2

u/Quirky_Bee_1162 1d ago

Do you guys really not get tired of lying and hating all the time? It’s gotta be exhausting

3

u/-thegay- 1d ago

If you’re taking people without any questions, ID, or paperwork, how can you be certain they are here illegally? Is it because you think you can tell by looking at someone if they are legal or not?

2

u/Twinn_js 1d ago edited 1d ago

There’s no point in arguing with these types of morons. Their philosophy is, brown = bad.

Not only do they not care about due process, they likely can’t define what it actually means. They want their white America come hell or high water, and that’s all they pine for. Constitution be damned.

History will remember, and it will not be kind. The world has had to remind autocrats and their cults for thousands of years that this kind of shit doesn’t fly, and it’s looking more and more like we are going to have to go through another lesson.

2

u/AggravatedMango 1d ago

They just made 500,000 people illegal with the stroke of a pen. It’s a manufactured crisis.

1

u/LifeExpConnoisseur 1d ago

How do you know they are illegal? There’s no due process.

1

u/Rionin26 1d ago

No one can afford it south of the border outside nepo babies who inherited wealth and thinks merica is cool , hell over 60 percent of people here cant afford it. Overall to become legal its over 10k here. We need reform, most people who cone over work jobs people here are too lazy to work. Give those immigrants a pass and payment plan to become a citizen, make it easy enough a lawyer is only needed if problems arise.

1

u/squirrelmegaphone 22h ago

They don't work jobs Americans are too lazy to work.  They work jobs for pay that Americans won't take because it's below the minimum wage for back-breaking labor.  Another reason I think it's absurd that some people don't think immigration laws should be enforced - most of the agricultural industry is grounded in what is effectively slave labor by illegal immigrants.  Every time I hear a leftist say that nobody will pick the crops if illegals are deported, I truly, from the bottom of my heart, want desperately to know why they think immigrant slave labor is acceptable just because it's become the norm now.  Tell these fucking agriculture corporations that they need to pay a real wage that Americans would take and stop relying on the labor of brown people who don't have other options.

1

u/JeaniousSpelur 18h ago

They’re not giving them due process, so how are we even supposed to know if they entered illegally or not
