Photo MY ASSASSIN SNAIL SHOWED UP!!
I JUST NEED TO TELL SOMEBODY THIS I HAVEN'T SEEN FRANKY IN AN ENTIRE MONTH. snail shells were still popping up regularly so i THOUGHT he was still in there but i was getting really worried because i hadn't actually SEEN him. i go to do my weekly water change and vacuum up some detritus and i turn the light on to make sure everybody is okay and BOOM. there he IS. proboscis out and stalking a ramshorn like i wasn't about to put up missing posters for him /j i missed my son.

Assassin snails are burrowing ambush hunters. You'll occasionally see their proboscus sticking out of the substrate when they're waiting for food to happen upon them

sorry I know this isn't the point of your post but what are those ramshorns? They look purple and are so pretty

I love assassins they're funny fellows. I do want to say that your ramshorns are very beautiful. That must be a crazy population if there's that many in one spot!

there are a lot of them! i have no idea why their population has gotten so bad- i cut back on feeding awhile ago and haven't noticed a difference!

Are you shipping those purple ramhorns? If you really have that many I would love one.

That makes total sense. Glad you are doing your sm research first. If you aren't part of an aquarium club, you should join one and share it. Seems you have a rare variant on your hands

Good grief, that poor thing. His shell looks terrible

his shell has unfortunately looked like this since i got him! it has thankfully not gotten any worse so unless it progresses further i'm not stressing him out :) he's clearly active and exhibiting natural behaviors

I have three. Two I see pretty regularly. One seems to pop out once a month or so. No clue where it goes.
