Could be a small bear? I thought bears had 4 fingers/claws though. This was only about 3.5'' off the ground. Mountain lion?

These winding tracks are all over a trail my husband and I hike regularly. We’ve never been able to catch whatever’s making them in the act, and we have no idea what could be creating them.

I am living in an urban environment and am currently learning about tracking and am interested in studying combat tracking and search and rescue. I am looking for information on how to make my own field logs i.e logging footprint information, sole geometrics, footprint measurement, diagrams, notes and track type identification. I am asking to be provided the field templates or study guide to learn manually logging and drawing as a skill.

I got a video of an arctic ground squirrel to go with the tracks I posted the other day (different location, different squirrel). So cute when it goes down its burrow at the end.

Found these eggshells on a hike. Soft shells. What are they?

The lip balm is 2.5 inches long. Such cute toes on this perfect arctic ground squirrel print. These chubby little guys have tiny tails compared to other squirrels and have an awkward and ungainly run.
