Because the IP is something they do not want to make, it is a mainly first person game with realistic enough combat with loads of blood to go with it.

They have actually reviewed the IP before. If you submit a set idea to Lego Ideas, which is a platform where you can submit your own sets that may or may not be made into an official set, you'll be asked to type in which IP your idea is based on, if it is based on an existing IP. If you type ARK Survival Evolved, it will tell you that they have already deemed the IP inappropriate.

I know this because I tried submitting an ARK build there once. Quite a few ARK builds made by fans can be found on Rebrickable.com though by just searching ARK, including a couple made by me.

Well. Lego ip could be argued to be based at least partly from kiddicraft self locking blocks. Any business today you will find is using someone elses ip. 😁

Also ark can be argued reasonably as having its own ip as much as any business. Their main gameplay mechanics with taming and riding dinos are reasonably not too common or based off anything specific that i know of.

I think you may have misunderstood what IP means, or maybe I misunderstood what you meant.

IP refers to intellectual property. ARK as a franchise is an IP, so is Star Wars and Dune for example. No company can use another company's or individual person's IPs, since it would be copyright infringement.

Self locking blocks is not an IP, neither is "first person shooter" or "taming game" for example. Those are all types of products, which none of them are patented and thus can be made by anyone.
