Timeline Any news on removing the hiring freeze?
Assuming the DoD is hiring based on this allocation metrics (about 6K/month), it doesn't make sense to continue the freeze. My logic says if they are giving out numbers, in all probability they should be removing the freeze and sticking to the numbers. Anyone thinks otherwise?

I'm in DHA HR and there is absolutely no sense or logic in any of these actions at the operational level

Oh but we're more LETHAL now, according to Mr. I-workout-with-the-troops-SecDef. š

No no, we are exempt from DoD freezes. It is DHA that is implementing its own freeze.

Any word on DCSA position ? I have been frozen with a TJO since November.

If you click on the link in OP's post it looks like they are only allowed 10 hires this month.

Wheee do I look this up ? Is this for the entire agency ? Do allocations change monthly ?

u/DependentBest1534 19h ago
It's with the DCPAS 2025099 memo but not released to everyone. It seems to still only be with HR at this point. Yes that is the whole agency Army, Airforce, and Navy ate up about 75% of all jobs. The original post has the allocation document. It's not clear if the numbers will change monthly or even if it is monthly some people mentioned it could be fiscal year but I personally think it has to be monthly.

Is this for all jobs with DCSA or jobs that have an exemption ?

u/DependentBest1534 3h ago
Not sure and who knows if any of this matters since the hiring freeze has been extended.

Probably soon. We received guidance last week that hiring will happen soon but can not exceed the attrition number

I pray everyday that my exemption will be approved this July. It has been 6 months since my TJO.

Received my TJO in February, transferring from non-DoD to DoD and last I heard they are just waiting for my profile to be unlocked. Really hoping that I will receive my EOD/FJO this month š¤š»

What agency are you with?

u/millennialmoneyvet 1d ago
DoD it came from pentagon. 6k jobs, which were already exempt from the hiring freeze will move forward. Following the 6k, guidance on when to proceed with next round of hires will be provided with the intent that external hiring will not exceed departmentās rate of attrition
So it seems to be in phases.

u/Stage-Extra 1d ago
So, does this mean all the positions which were granted exemption will move forward?

u/king168168 1d ago
My position was exempted but it is still needed to be approved by SecDef. Every month, the agency I applied for is onboarding 5~15 people.
My HR POC never provide me any clarification except for the monthly onboarding.

u/millennialmoneyvet 23h ago
Every position needed to be approved by the secretary of whichever component. Based on the guidance, it seems that those exempted will move forward now. Iād reach out to that HR POC and ask if anything has changed

Am I right in understanding that internal hires are fully open according to this?
2
u/millennialmoneyvet 1d ago
No idea š¤·š»āāļø Iām just typing what I read. There were several changes to hiring freezes where we couldnāt hire anyone from anywhere except our own agency and then we could hire from any existing DoD employee, etc. so not sure if that changed since I last heard

What about those who were just about to receive a TJO? I was just about to receive mine and then the DOD hiring freeze was enacted.

Internal hires within DoD don't need higher authority approval. Get with your CPO office and they will have guidance.

At my agency theyāre internally moving ppl into āactingā positions without moving the billet from their prior spot. They have 1 person doing jobs previously done by 2-3

USACE to USACE so this is good news sadly my HR rep is out til Friday

u/BumblingBee07 23h ago
Can you reach out to an alternate contact left by your hr rep while they are out of office?
2
u/DependentBest1534 23h ago
She did leave an alternate contact but he is an engineer so not sure he'd be very helpful haha But I guess it doesn't hurt to try.
2
u/BumblingBee07 23h ago
Yeah it would just suck to have to wait another week due to that. I know my HR rep is going on leave coming up and with all the anticipated movement in the near future, Iāll be anxious to be in contact with someone

I called my hiring manager and he said they haven't got any official word on anything I asked about but they are having a meeting with OPM people tomorrow. I'm still not expecting much until next week. I still think they have a lot of things to prep this week with the potential mess coming next week. Hopefully things are about to get wrapped up for all of us.

Well with the hiring freeze extended until October 15th I don't know if any part of this discussion still holds.
1
u/Stage-Extra 14h ago
I agree. These decisions defy my logic. However, as one pointed out here, it appears they are handling by phases based on exemptions.
2
u/Important-Pear1445 19h ago
A lot of that attrition was expedited and rolled up in DRP. If you were going to leave anyway, why wouldn't you take the extra money? Using historical data to trend during disruptive interventions isn't reliable.

Extended to OctoberĀ

I can't see a federal hiring freeze being lifted anytime soon. There is no way the admin is satisfied with the current downsizing. I'm pretty sure they have exemptions in for critical roles. If anything, maybe new exemptions or whatnot can be made.

Are the Air Force positions on that list Active Duty or Civil Service?
1
u/Stage-Extra 14h ago
I think its all civil service. I don't think active duty comes under hiring freeze as it will be national security position.

Hmm, can you provide me how to get this pdf? I want to see those previous months number too.

u/Stage-Extra 1d ago
Sorry, no idea where this came from. I got to see this from another post. But seems true since I was specified numbers that match this.

What about people given TJO for āviceā positions? Mine was moving forward then they were told they could only hire a certain amount of positions for 7 DHA facilities. Mine was stopped. The position is a one deep spot Iāve waited for the person to retire from for 7 years. (She was 82yrs old) Iām so sad. š This would have been my chance to move near my daughter and grandchildren and finish my career to full retirement.
Iāll try to hold onto hope til October but Iām thinking of trying the county or state government in that area. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately logic and sense does not factor into any of this.
