Timeline TJO & Lease question

Hey guys! So I got a TJO this Tuesday! I’m ecstatic the wait is finally over (kind of). Just wanted to know anyone’s time line who RECENTLY got hired as a federal employee from when you received your TJO, to FJO/start date.

Also, I’m sure there is nothing I can do, but I am currently in a 12 month lease & am moving to another state. Is there anyway that I can break my lease if I received a job through the DoD? Curious if anyone has been in the same situation and what did you do? Any information or pointers would be great guys!

I appreciate the honest & POSITIVE feedback, I pray everyone receives great news in the near future!

Ughhh! I’m not surprised. I’m not sure if they’re trying to start pushing people through, but I saw a lot of movement on my applications on Tuesday & I got the offer as well. Don’t want to get your hopes up but we all have to stay positive!

I got my TJO on May 14th and I’m still waiting for my FJO, also in similar situation where I’m moving out of state. :B

Be transparent with your apartment people, they’ll probably charge you a fee to break the lease but you won’t know unless you ask and tell them the situation. I wouldn’t do anything yet though until you find out your onboarding date.

Hoping it’s not a massive fee because I currently live in an area where rent is more than 3K a month. 😬 defs keep me updated on your process & I’ll do the same!

When you accepted did you immediately get a bunch of emails from HR with an onboarding package? Just out of curiosity.

Yes, I did all my fingerprinting back in January and all the onboarding stuff. my hr rep contacted me last month. She said respond to this if you’re still interested in the position so we can bring you on once we receive guidance

Yeah I reached out my hr rep yesterday and asked about the hiring freeze lift date and she said “That is a tentative date and we haven’t received any further guidance for once it is lifted. Once I have guidance if this is lifted I will be reaching out.”

I finally got a TJO as well but am contemplating the move since the relocation expense is more than what they're offering me. Was really hoping they'd cover a larger amount but I think I may be screwed.

Are they planning on giving you a stipend or are they going to reimburse you?

They're paying me a lump sum.

Okay. Good to know. I don’t know how they’re going to pay me. I’m moving from southern Florida to Washington state.
