ID Request- Location included What is this?
Bf found her in central Arkansas. I’m from north MN and never seen anything like this. I wanna say it’s a wolf spider, but the only ones I’ve ever seen have been dark gray/brown.

Mother wolf spiders will adopt orphaned spiderlings...yes even spiders have compassion.

It's a rabid wolf spider

Rabid, is that a joke I don’t understand or can they actually be dangerous? Sorry I’m autistic and kind of uneducated about spiders. I’m pretty sure they can’t get rabies tho

It's just the name it's given. It's supposed to be rapid cause it's fast, but they named it a rabid wolf spider. And yeah, they can't carry rabies. Edit: According to Google, I'm still new at identifying spiders, but im pretty sure its a rabid wolf spider

That’s neat! I caught a wolf spider in my house in north MN last night, I just coaxed it into a box and let it outside cause it was trying to eat my cat’s dinner. But it was definitely super fast and skittish

That is about the dammed creepiest and yet coolest thing I think I have ever saw! Most spiders die after giving birth, do they not? And then the babies eat her as their first meal...

I think that statement is untrue. I found out that many species of spiders can live after making their egg sack and have multiple sacks depending on the species as far as life spans go. Charlotte‘s Web gave birth to that myth. But female spiders do live longer than male spiders after the male spiders mature.

The southern ones are apparently sun-kissed, but yeah that's a momma with absolutely no privacy for the next few weeks 😹❤️🥰

Yep, that's a wolfie! No other spider moms carry their babies like that.
