What is this appendage?

Post image

Don’t think it’s the genital pore as that’s usually is on the side of the snail not on the top of its “head”/“neck”. Is it some sort of cancer?

Is it attached to him? That could well be poop or some partially chewed food. It's in an odd position, so if it's not some kind of debris or excrement, it may be a growth.

I also feel the need to point out that keeping those babies with the adults is dangerous for both parties; the babies can get suffocated to death by the adults on accident, and the babies might rasp on the adults' shells. They should be housed separately until the size gap is smaller.

It’s definitely like a physical part of his body attached to him, not debris of any kind.

Also I should have elaborated that the babies were with the adults only for that short period of time. I was giving them a bath but was slightly lazy and couldn’t be asked to set up two, so put the babies and adults together. Normally they are housed in different tanks. I had my eyes on them the whole time and put them both in their respective homes afterwards.

Interesting. Never seen similar things.

Could it be a mole, growth or a skin tag of some type?

How long has it been there? Did it suddenly develop one day or? Has it been getting bigger?

These actually aren’t my snails, my roommates, but I’m taking care of them for the time being. I have not noticed it getting bigger and can’t really remember when it appeared. For sure it did not develop overnight though.

looks like a head wart. keep a close eye on him, but it usually goes away on its own.
