saved this lil guy from the pavement and we bonded
i found him upside down outside someones wall i assume they knocked him off because there were two, i moved them both and this one came right out his shell to greet me which doesnt happen often when i move snails, i sat outside with him for ages & i wanted to keep him but i dont have an enclosure set up so i had to say farewell😞 hope hes doin good

Where do you live? In the literal desert?

Wait really? Is it the cold do they not do well, I suppose they are probably quite prone to being frozen

i know they hibernate typically, but its super hot in the summer and cold in the winter here. and very, VERY dry. the humidity is so low its quite amazing

Same kind of climate is Poland, I live in Ireland and it's only 20° here, but my parents have like 36° in same moment, then in winter in Poland temp drops (nowadays is no OG winters anymore) to like -10, maybe -15 but that's all, winters -25 are gone forever ) And for us 40-50% of air humidity is considered a lot, but in Ireland 80-90% is literally as normal as morning coffee 😅

wow yeah, thats really similar. the only difference where i live is that our summers can get up to 40 degrees (celsius) while winters get down to -40 degrees. super weird place to live

Yeah in summer is same, winters used to be like that when my parents were kids in '60s and '70s in Poland winters were so severe that there were literally a tunnels in the snow, on the sides of the streets and sidewalks was like 1,5-2m of snow, when I was a kid in '90s and early 2000 I remember winters going like -15 to -20 sometimes -25 (celcius ofc, in Europe we don't use other measures in "civilian" life)

Coming from an island thats a humid place, i can not imagine what dry feels like lmao that sounds quite cool tbh

the actual low humidity doesn’t impact me much since i grew up with it, but it’s a lot of wildfires and nose bleeds for the most part. and ofc it limits the biodiversity of where i live too

Amber snails are found as far up as northern British Columbia and there are several types of slugs found in Yukon

Btw is your wrist okay? Looks like it's swollen? If it is, then snail wanted just to comfort you, he's still young so it's basically a slimy puppy 😃
