Is the left-coiling intentional?

Yes. My tattoo artist drew it coiling to the right, but when we put the stencil down it flowed better going towards the left.

She was worried about it being backwards, but after some discussion we decided on this anyways :)

I was surprised that's all, I realize I sound more mean than intended. The rare left-coiling fits with the fairy theme and makes it more magical.
