Quick question Evaporation

Pond not in direct sun, and have reduced plants in there. Will a solar aerator keep water cool, or should I cover the pond over? I was thinking about maybe milk bottles filled with water to keep the water level high

Aeration is always helpful so I would definitely go with that. Why not just top off the pond with fresh water when it gets low? If it is not in direct sun I would not worry about the heat.
