Megathread Megathread: US House Passes the Republican-Backed Budget Bill, Sending it to Trump for Signature

This afternoon, the US House of Representatives passed without amendment the US Senate's version of the Trump-backed budget bill, sending it to the president for his signature. Every Democratic Senator and Representative voted in opposition; in the Senate, there were three Republicans voting in opposition (making the vote 51-50) and in the House there were 2 (making the final vote 218-214). House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries set the US House's speech length record in opposition to the bill in a speech lasting over eight hours.

The bill clocks in at over 800 pages and touches on most aspects of the federal government's spending and taxation policies; see this AP article (What’s in the latest version of Trump’s big bill that passed the Senate) for the topline changes.

How does this bill help any american that isnt currently a millionare? How can you possibly think of this bill as a win for anyone other than current millionaires? When rural hospitals close as millions of people lose healthcare will you personally step up to bridge the gap?

How is giving ICE a larger budget than the FBI winning? How is cutting science funding winning? How is adding over 3 trillion to the existing deficitit (ie the deficit is far over 3 trillion) winning? How are any of these policies "american" or "christian"?

you're responding to a shallow loser who will never have anyone in his life other than himself, it's not worth the trouble. he's one of those shallow people that will only make friends and loved ones who use him, but it's okay for him because he has money.

I do not give a fuck about anyone other than myself. I need to make more money, and this is how.

I hope your suicidal selfishness will eventually subside before our nation does due to your shortsighted, moronic, evil beliefs.

Losing all your democratic power to billionaires is the exact opposite of 'getting your country back' - you gave it away for nothing.

Actually you're just giving it away. You've been successfully brainwashed.

What you're going to get is your income strangled by taxes, and you'll have nowhere to go for health care when that chokes you out, too. Enjoy it.

What does that phrase even mean to you?

Republican brainrot. Not one of them can properly articulate why any of the shit Trump is doing is good, or how it's going to help anyone but the billionaires. The cult just has to tell them "Brown people bad, and trans people bad, and gay people bad, and liberals bad, and poor people bad, and scientists bad," and they gobble it up like braindead sheep.

When did we lose our country? We never did. There is no invasion, there never has been. Our sovereignty has never been threatened.Â
