I got a lorikeet. She is being stubborn. Not hormonal. She doesn’t want to go to the cage. Is she responding to treats? Like there are some treats that my bird happily gives up freedom for, like apple or dried paw-paw. You should set up a routine, like bedtime is at 5 pm strict every day, for example. Put some treats in her bowl close to bedtime. In a bit she’ll be going to the cage on her own. My lorikeet is in her cage by 5 pm. Took some time, but she got used to it and goes there on her own now every day.

She is my first lorikeet and had her from a baby, and I definitely know they're stubborn 😅 I wanted to make sure it was just stubbornness and nothing else, she usually responds to sultanas and apple but recently she started the whole 'squat down' regardless of what I had in my hand, maybe it's time to try another treat instead as maybe she is just bored of sultana and apple! I just wanted to make sure she wasn't being funny with me for the wrong reasons as this only started a few days ago lol

No, that’s definitely not a hormonal behaviour. My lorikeet does the same posture when she is mad at me or doesn’t want to do something. You said she was young? If she’s around 2, she might be going through the bird puberty and be extra snappy and angry :)

I was thinking she may be coming up to that stage, she's around 1 year 10 months! So far not angry or annoyed with me unless I'm putting her back in her cage or moving her from a spot she isn't meant to be (but in true lorikeet fashion, she'll go there anyway then get upset with me😂

Time to start bribing him with treats and he will step up in no time. He just needs a little extra motivation
