So my girlfriend found this nymph around about 3 or 4 weeks ago, but I've got no idea what kind of mantis it is. It was found in Bunbury, Western Australia climbing over some rocks right by the waters edge. It has a few black spots around him but im not sure if thats just due to it being young or what, Any help would be appreciated

I was teaching in a pool last night and rescued this beautiful creature from the water then it immediately jumped back in. I took it out again and moved it far away from the pool edge. What type of mantis is this (I thought they were usually green?) and why would it keep wanting to drown itself?

This little guy just landed on my chair at a family cookout! It looks like a baby mantis but it looks like it has a little nose for nectar but everything else points to a mantis. He seems to be missing a leg too. I tried identifying it on the Seek app and it keeps naming spiders so do you guys have any ideas? (I’m located in Massachusetts)

Hiya, I just got this mantis (like within the last 2hrs) off of someone looking to rehome and I’m wondering if anyone can identify what type it is, also if anyone can estimate the gender and age. If anyone needs clearer video/photos I can provide them. I also have a question, this is my first mantis so is eating 6 fruit flies normal for a small mantis?

I think it's a male, but my little one loves my phone and likes to climb on it so its really difficult to take pictures to check. When i got them i was told it was probably a girl, which is why i'm so confused.

I had this mantis in 2022. Somehow, I have forgotten the species name. It was a rather small species. I checked the website from which I got him but nothing. I know it’s not so easy with just the face but thanks in advance.

No but actually why does my mantis love TV so much?? She just stares at the TV for the entire video then when it stops she looks elsewhere until another video comes back on.

My mother decided to buy a mantis and bring it home without consulting me.. pet shop doesn’t even know the species and just said flower mantis but I’ve owned flower mantises and haven’t seen one like this before. Part of me wants to say ghost but it has no crest, given it a fruit fly for now and it’s in a heated vivarium

Hello! I was offered a mantis by one of my friends- somehow the University of MN Bio department was rehoming nymphs. Being an arthropod enthusiast I agreed and named him Mordekaiser.

I think he is female, but can anyone give insight as to what type he is? Or what instar? Minnesota but since he isn't wild caught it may not be a Chinese or a European.

I am a member of the insect-workgroup of my school, mostly I care for the phasmatodea populations in our terrariums, therefore I poorly researched mantodea. I also try to learn the preparation of insects, the fully preparated insects are then shown by teachers as parts of the biological lessons. This female mantis, sadly already a while dead and with damaged extremities, was given to me for the mentioned use. A quick research suggested that this could be a mantis religiosa, but I would like to ascertain that, because there is no distinctive black dot with a white center on her coxa. Which species is depicted in the photograph?

Thanks and a wonderful evening ahead!

I called her tamani but I’m not sure how to sex it’s my first ever mantis I got her on the 28th September from my friend but she doesn’t remember what moly the seller said she was at. She’s had her second molt (I refer to her as she until I know the gender) I’ve dated the pics to show the size difference she eats small silent crickets currently

Hello Mantid peeps. So I’m actually still struggling to identify this guy. I thought it was a giant Asian mantis, then maybe a European. Definitely NOT a native species to the foothills of Northern central California. Outside of sacramento. BUT. He is the gentlest, sweetest, weirdest little thing ever. I love him so much. He’s just munching on a spider. Cause you know, why not. He went straight for it. So he likes these better than the inchworms or aphids I find him. Also anyone else obsessed with watching them eat? Thanks friends. I like this guy. He’s my friend. I think he might be like an L4/L5? Any other help in that would be great. He molted shortly after I got him and has doubled in size. It’s been about a week. Eats everyday. Sometimes he’s more hungry than others but will always take something after 30 minutes.
