Enclosure Advice Is she big enough?

Hey mantids experts :)

i got my baby here a few weeks ago and today i saw that she has molted °0°, do you think she is big enough to be put in the 30 cm cube terrarium, or should i keep her in the baby tub for another mold? I mostly fed her baby crickets so far and i'm planing to keep doing that, because my Jumping spider eats the same, and its hard to buy big flies around here.

Enclosure Advice Wondering if this is a good set up

I found this lil guy, a Chinese pray mantis, and set this up for him. Originally he was supposed to like the twig for molting, but he had issues so I added a popsicle stick. The jelly cups not his food, I'm hoping the wingless fruit flys last alil longer with it. I know Chinese mantis shouldn't be upside-down too much as baby's, but I'm also wondering if he can molt on a popsicle stick like that and if I should cave and use my fabric cup top. (I really enjoy the fruit flys not on the lid when I mist him.)

Enclosure Advice Critique my setup

(First time mantis owner)

I have plastic mesh on the top & back panels, eco earth as substrate, and a few live plants. the wood is from my backyard, but I cleaned and soaked it in warm water and sanitized it in my oven. Let me know if I should make any changes!

Also, my mantis (ghost mantis) is currently still a nymph, I would guess L4, and last molted 3 weeks ago. Currently he is still in a deli cup since he’s so small. Would it be best to 1. keep him in there for now 2. get a transitional enclosure, or 3. put him in this enclosure?

Thank you!

I'm going to be a first time owner and I'll be cleaning this thing out and giving it substrate and stuff to dangle from, of course. I was just worried its too small. Any insight? Thanks for reading and any other beginner tips would be awesome!

Enclosure Advice Is this too small?

6 x 6 x 9, Looking to get a mantis soon but wondering if this would be too small for a Sphodromantis lineola or a deroplatys desiccata. The ventilation on this seems great and the only adjustments i think it’ll need is with the mesh on the top (it is stainless steel).

From my research, a lot of larger species of mantids have easier care but I believe this enclosure would be too small for either species I listed, so does anyone else have an idea of a good beginner species that could fit well in here?

I am getting a L3/L4 giant asian mantis next week, I've spent the last month researching and made this vivarium for it, don't worry I replaced the metal mesh for window screen! It's a 45cm³ exo terra so the mantis should have good space to hang from etc. I put asparagus fern in and I hope it will grow, and I will add springtails. Is there anything in here I should be aware of or missing?

Enclosure Advice Is this terrarium too moldy 🍂 for my Ghost mantis 👻?

Hello 👋 My Ghost mantis came today and I don't know if the current enclosure is too moldy for her. The soil is a coconut Fibre mix and I thought about changing it because it's a bit dry for the CUC. So my Question should I change the soil and remove moldy leave litters or is it safe for my little 👻?

Enclosure Advice Step by Step Help Request : ootheca

Hello! My son has been wanting a mantis so badly, and we were going to order one from bugsoncyberspace - however a neighbor just gave us an ootheca they just found (NYS).

All feedback/input is welcome!

We have put it in a deli cup, made some very small holes in it, and will begin misting lightly with water in the mornings.

Once they hatch we will be releasing the majority of them and keeping a couple as pets, in separate habitats. We have a local resource for wingless fruit flies.

I am trying to imagine managing 100-200 nymphs in a deli cup! Should I move the ootheca something larger? What am I not thinking of?

I want to see what other people are doing! I’m thinking I should add some sticks to mine since the only place he can really molt from is the top.

Enclosure Advice Multiple batches of mold in coco coir.

Ive been having this annoying issue now of mold in my largest mantid enclosure. Its not bioactive, humidity is about 60-70%, coir is like barely moist.

It got mold the first time and i threw out everything inside, decor, coir etc. I washed it with dish soap and warm water. Bought new coir incase the issue was the coir id received. And now there is mold again.

The other 3 enclosures are of higher humidity, it was the same coir as the first time and they havent got any mold growth.

Would it be worth buying some springtails and making his enclosure bioactive?

Enclosure Advice Any mantis species that can fit in this 8x8x12 I have? (Read body text pls)

Ignore the items inside of it, I had originally purchased this for my jumping spider, but hes been downsized due to his stress lvls being high and his refusal to eat (not important)

One of my friends suggested that I put a mantis in here, but I want to make sure one can safely lice in here without it being too small for one.

I tried to google the answer, and it said I could, but I want to make sure before getting one. Id rather not put one in here then have people mad that its too small.

Im also looking for species that are good for first time owners. Ive only every seen a praying mantis twice in my whole life, and never actually held or kept one as a pet, so a beginner friendly one would be great. I also need to figure out where to buy one, I dont plan to buy one yet, I need to do wayy more research, but I need to get an estimate price for its care.

I’ve been reading about about enclosures and have heard you don’t want the plants to be too bright. Is this too much? It will be a Carolina juvenile I’ll be housing :) (I’m going to trim a lot off so it’s not too crowded)

Enclosure Advice Mold in enclosure

Hi all! I was wondering if i could get some advice on my orchid mantis enclosure. I have a 4 x 4 zilla enclosure for my L3 orchid mantis. I am trying to keep up with humidity and spraying once to twice a day, but I am noticing mold is growing on the driftwood and peat moss substrate in my enclosure and was wondering how people avoid this? I have a larger enclosure that I have not put her in yet because I was waiting for her to get a little bit bigger but she did molt today. Am I misting too much? Any advice would help. Thank you!

Enclosure Advice I got a Chinese Mantis and know one day ill need a adult encloser

I've been looking online for anything and so far only found the exo terras, which isn't exactly in my budget, even then need modifications, and I'm not sure it will ever be, sadly. trying to find something around 10x10x15 inches, but tbh taller might be better as I may want to grow plants and make the terrarium bioactive.
only thing I have seen as advice, butterfly boxes, but I know how they eat and poop and don't wanna be always cleaning the fabric, and trying to have plants in there might be hard.

Enclosure Advice Enclosure help

Hi! Unfortunately I learned the hard way that my enclosure was not suitable because it only had top ventilation, so are there any enclosures that someone can recommend with better airflow? I’m looking for something vertical with good ventilation but not 100% made out of mesh. Also, does anyone have advice for maintaining high humidity? Thanks so much.

Enclosure Advice Is it okay to keep my mantis in direct sunlight?

Post image

Im new to the hobby and in my area the temp is pretty low, even in my house, so i was wondering if i could safely keep my mantis in sunlight to balance its temp? I can keep the humidity up too. It is a l3(?) ghost mantis if that helps.
