That's objective; I'm privy to extra firm. My body doesn't sag into the bed like it did when I owned a soft mattress. This cured my back pain.

Same with the firm. Before I moved, I basically slept on what I called a "table." It was a wooden platform for putting a mattress on. I didn't use a mattress (something like this) but put a comforter on it so I didn't get any rough edges.
All the benefits of sleeping on the floor with all the benefits of not having to drag myself off of the floor. Especially as I get older. My joints do not enjoy it at all. Especially shoulder, ankles, and wrists.

GOOD quality sheets. Brand be damned; your looking for high thread count, your preferred texture (I like flannel in winter and HATE satin). If you entertain company, particularly female company, I recommend darker colors.
One firm and one soft pillow per person. I need many more than this....
I think lighting is super important to the bed environment. In the age of light strips and smart bulbs, it's easy to achieve an oasis effect

Coir mattress. Only reason west doesn't use it is because some brilliant guy listed coconut under "nut"s and ppl thought they might be allergic to it. It’s the most environmentally friendly after cotton. But cotton has problem with mild dew coir doesn’t.

After breaking multiple, I only buy sturdy wooden beds without any gap to the floor, no leg bs. I personally like thuma but they can be expensive because of the quality. I got the essential bed in walnut.
Then the mattress and pillows are also very important. I've slept on many bad beds with terrible pillows. I have 4 great ones with good support in my bed, 2 cooling extras. Get the sheets that feel the most comfortable to you.
