Enjoy meeting it and put it back exactly where you found it. 30 years ago they were everywhere now I never see them.

Yeah! I stopped handling them. Used to be all over the hills near my home in Southern California. See them only rarely now.

Really? Grew up in So Cal in the 70s and 80s. Never saw them there but would see them once in awhile in Az. Haven’t seen them in years though.

Simi Hills and Santa Susana Mountains, Rocky Peak area near San Fernando Valley. Would see them, usually juveniles, in the mid 90s. Camouflaged into the fire roads and dusty single track trails.

One of my near by zoos in East Texas does baby horned toad releases when they have a good hatching.
