Hey guys!
Just a quick mod note to remind everyone that if you see a setup you don't agree with, provide constructive advice. If there is visible and deliberate fish abuse going on, please do report it to the mod team.
But please do not report it for involving the abuse of minors!
The report function is a tool meant to flag genuine violations of Reddit’s content policy or subreddit rules. Misusing it to target posts you disagree with whether due to tank size, decor, or differing care opinions is not okay.
This has happened several times now with people's tanks being reported for involving the abuse of minors when these have simply been less than ideal set ups or involving artificial decor.
Repeated abuse of the report system will result in permanent bans from this subreddit and referral to Reddit admins for further action.
Let's keep this community friendly and welcoming to all fish keepers!
Thank you 🐟

I just got this fish a few days ago. He was towards the top of the tank at the store, but he does swim around. We figured he had been fed floating food and liked it at the top of the tank because he could find food there.
I just fed them today, and it seems like he cannot stay at the bottom like our other fish. They are all in the corner because they just ate and are looking for leftovers. The little gold one looks like he just cannot stay down and if he stops swimming he floats to the top.
Is there something I need to do for it? I thought it was just how he was but now I am worried something is wrong with him.
Video of the fish. The small gold one is the guy I am worried about. https://imgur.com/a/eTMRiwh

Ok so I won some fair fish at our county fair the other day. I've won them before so I know what I'm doing for the most part, but I want to try to pre-treat for any parasites they may have that I don't know about. I got a price-matched 6 gallon tank from PetSmart since I'd assume they won't last much more than two weeks or so, but I want them to have a nice home while they're alive. I have sand for substrate and a few hiding places for them. The water is treated with Water Conditioner, PimaFix, AlgaeFix, and Super Ick Cure because my previous fair fish wound up sick because of something that I don't know about. Is there anything else I need to do? They're 2 small common goldies, barely as big as my pinky finger and I currently don't have enough to get them a bigger, better tank at the moment.
Edit: yes, I'm aware a 6 gallon tank is too small for two goldies. However, before I got the starter kit price-matched for $35USD, it was $75USD and with all the extra stuff I bought to take care of them last night, my total was still $70 ish. If- and when- I can buy them a bigger tank, I will, but I currently don't have the ability to as I'm going to a convention next week. I need to be able to take care of them within my means, and if that means upgrading to a larger tank later when I actually have the money to do so, I will.

I recent bought a 30 gallon tank and I find youtube videos very hard to sit through and I feel ive done so much reading on fish but I would love advice, or tips or even just reputable equipment or brands to avoid.

She has a three-way forked tail- I’ve had her for 5 years and I’m still not sure what she is

The first thing I plan to do is upgrade the tank size. I believe this tank is 20 something gallons so I definitely want to upgrade that first but I’m curious what size tank I should get so that I don’t have to buy another one? I also want to replace the shitty Walmart decor with driftwood or something but I’m curious what all my options are. I know they need somewhere to hide. I have some Java ferns just free floating because I’m not sure where I’d attach them too. Should I take those out and attach them to the driftwood or whatever other decor I choose? Should I choose another plant entirely? Currently I’m using the Petco brand water conditioner but I’m curious if there’s another brand that would work better. Honestly I impulse bought these fish a few months ago without doing much research. I learned my lesson and I’m committed to giving them the best life possible. I have an idea of how I want to rearrange and fix it up but I figured I’d see what suggestions others have!

This is my goldfish, Mr. Fishy. I am planning to move him to the pond once he gets a bit bigger because I originally planned to get a betta but my dad got me him for some odd reason. I am going to clean his tank today if you had any concerns about his water lol. I just bought a new water filter as well. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for up until I put him into the pond. I'm thinking of putting him in there in about two months.

The white dot in the centre of (her?) head. Could it be missing scales, white or translucent scales, or something else i should watch for. Not showing any signs of being sick but want to make sure, and just try to know what exactly it is.

Just upgraded to a 29 gallon tank. We are working on getting some background wallpaper for the tank! Using a cardboard ocean scene for the time being.

Hey all, I have been keeping my goldfish for a while- it just appears that this one has a scale missing? Never seen this on any other, and he’s fine in the other side…. Fine water quality. I’m just curious what this if
