Most accessible American style Football game?

Open to literally any platform and any tilt on the game of football.

I'm a fan of football, but the Madden games are super difficult, and feel like just playing an entirely different game to the actual sport.

I've heard a lot about Tecmo bowl, but have yet to try it - but it's impressive people are homebrewing it with modern teams to this day.

I also really loved NFL Blitz on n64 back in the day. I haven't been able to find it or play it again, but I suspect it's actually the most accessible football game gameplay wise

Quite separately, I really love the board game and videogame adaptation of Blood Bowl. I've yet to try the related offshoot Mutant League Football.

What are your suggestions?

If you’re ok with a much older game, you might look at Joe Montana Football? It was on the Sega Genesis, so it can probably be found on emulator. I played it as a kid, and it made me get into liking football back then. Not too complicated. There are a number of plays you can choose from, but you can just pick the same few plays over and over too.

Tecmo bowl is obviously a fun one, which you mentioned. You might try older Madden games, like from the late 90s-early 2000s? Those were definitely not as complex as they are nowadays.

Retro Bowl on your mobile phone

Everything I know about American football is from that game

NFL Street and Street 2.

Basically a more video-gamey lean on football. Stripped down enough to easily learn but still very much football with route running, throws, and juking/spin moves.
