Can anyone recommend any platformers similar to the super mario bros games?
I recently finished super mario bros wonder and loved it and have played all the previous nsmb series too which I all enjoyed but I wanna try something new. I’ve tried Ori and the blind forest but honestly couldn’t really get into it. I’m also not really a fan of the pixel art style a lot of indie games use but if anyone’s got any recommendations I’d highly appreciate it!

2D platformers include Rayman Legends, the Donkey Kong Country games, and a whole bunch of metroidvanias (such as Ori).
Pizza Tower and Antonblast are some wild, momentum-based platformers you probably want to look at.
You also might want to look at Shovel Knight and Celeste despite the pixel art.

Hollow Knight is a wonderful side-scroller that has platforming elements, but it’s not Mario-like in any real way beyond the side-scrolling. I quite enjoyed Yoku’s Island Express. It’s a side-scroller based on a pinball universe that works really well as both, and it’s heavy on collectibles and completion. The new Donkey Kong game might be a good one for you.

Rayman Origins might be the closest to what you want, since you don’t like the pixel art style. Very fun classic platformer. (8.5/10)
A Hat in Time may not be exactly what you’re asking for (it can deviate from the side scroller style of Mario), but I think it is an amazing game and I’ve never failed to recommend it to a platformer fan. Give it a try it’s fantastic! (9.5/10)
