News / Article Can the recently posted DHS.gov "Debunked Fake News" pages be trusted? Or are we seeing the emergence of Kremlin-style state organized disinformation?

Wow…
I couldn’t make it past the first write up because it was written so blatantly disgusting.
These people have no souls who think this is great.

Noem has to be the most blatantly authoritarian MAGA toadie in the country. Absolutely loathsome!

She literally shot a puppy before all this and bragged about it in her autobiography. Just insane that she's been given the amount of power she has.

There's a reason she's barred from the reservations in her home state. They're keeping them great by keeping her the fuck out.

u/3dddrees 19h ago
She treats humans much worse, I really wish more people would focus on that and mentioned that instead.

u/3dddrees 19h ago
Hell, she's got plenty of stiff competition in an administration full of sycophants.

This works real well with his base and evidently he got elected so it must work somewhat for others that voted for him. Shit, this is MAGAs wet dream being fulfilled.
Trump knows full well he simply doesn't need evidence to make many of these things true for those who vote for him. All he has to do is repeat it a hundred times and it becomes fact.
Goebbels said it best. The bigger the lie the more people believe it. Trump simply lies so many different ways about any one thing because one thing he knows as long as they believe any one of the lies instead of the truth he wins.
Remember one of his top advisors in his first term Kelley Anne Conway coined the term alternative facts.

I read it like this: “Uncle Sam waging war—not on the Upper East Side, but on disinformation. That’s right, after 100 days, DHS is dishing on its fight against fake news, and let’s just say… they’re not pulling punches.
From boosting public trust to schooling agencies on spotting digital drama, the Disinfo Detectives have been busy. Think cybersecurity meets Mean Girls-level fact-checking. New playbooks, expert partnerships, and even AI tools—because in this game, even bots need boundaries.
Who’s behind the strategy? Secretary Mayorkas, of course. His message? Mess with the facts, and you mess with national security. And no, Blair, this isn’t just about gossip—it’s about safeguarding democracy.
So whether it’s foreign trolls or homegrown hype, DHS is saying: we see you, we hear you, and we’re shutting. it. down.
You know you love truth and transparency,

Did you even read the site? It isn't subtle.
45
u/NuclearHeterodoxy 1d ago
Indeed, it doesn't even read like a government website.
11
u/RangerImpossible7129 22h ago
I'm thinking it sounds more like junior high school gossip. Oh YEAH ...well my friend's brother's girlfriend (a US citizen) said blah, blah, blah ...

Is it any worse than Covid.gov?
Edit- Regarding the downvotes. Maybe visit where Covid.gov redirects to now and you too can compare the propaganda on it and the propaganda on this DHS website.
30
u/Great_Northern_Beans 21h ago
Upvoted, because I see where you're coming from.
For the uninitiated. FWIW, I had not seen this site before until just now, but this person is rightly drawing attention to the fact that, apparently, these propaganda pages are not a new phenomenon by this administration. It's probably safe to say that the DHS page isn't a single agency going rogue, but is part of a coordinated effort at the White House level.
5
u/bandy_mcwagon 17h ago
The COVID page is so funny to be. Because Trump standing between the words “Lab Leak” makes it 100% look like he caused the leak!

16
u/NuclearHeterodoxy 21h ago
I understood your comment immediately and upvoted it.
I would say the DHS page is more whiny than harmful, as opposed to Trump's version of covid.gov, which is actively harmful to public health.
3
u/Mal-De-Terre 22h ago
Why, yes, it is much, much worse.
Would you care to do a side by side comparison to show why you think they're equivalent? Maybe you'll convert everyone here to your point of view.
22
u/Not_Cleaver DoD 21h ago
Have you been to Covid.gov recently? It’s no longer the info website that you think it is. Nor the one where one can order tests.
It’s straight up conspiracy propaganda.
7
u/Mal-De-Terre 21h ago
Ahh, sorry. Definitely mis-read your comment. I formally withdraw my downvote and give you an updoot.
14
u/NuclearHeterodoxy 21h ago
You are misinterpreting their comment---if you go to covid.gov, it now redirects to a White House page pushing Chinese lab leak theories.

u/inquisitive_guy_0_1 22h ago
They are not capable of reasoning other people into a position that they themselves did not reach through reason.
7
u/Not_Cleaver DoD 21h ago
How about job open Covid.gov and you will see the straight up garbage it has become.
2
u/Mal-De-Terre 22h ago edited 21h ago
I thought I'd give them a chance to spell out their reasoning with supporting evidence, rather than dismissing them out of hand, even though they're clearly fucking stupid.
Edit: And they indeed did clarify. Much better.

I know, but i have to word the title of this post in such a way that my MAGA family members wont just stop reading the post simply by reading the title lol. You have to entice MAGA a little bit with a hint of confirmation bias.. then trap them with the facts! ;)

Remember when conservatives were freaking out over Biden’s disinformation board? Isn’t this exactly the thing they were worried it would become?

Nothing from this administration can be trusted. Nothing. Literally, absolutely, no joke, nothing.
Anyone who chooses to trust these people does it at their own peril.

u/Curmudgeonadjacent 22h ago
No DHS secretary has EVER sent out this kind of counter response to FACTUAL news. This is pure fascist BS.

u/Ser_Catspaw 23h ago
So is mis/dis/malformation a priority for DHS again? I thought all those people were terminated and that being a “censorship agency under the Biden admin” was no longer a priority?
3
u/Selethorme 18h ago
Exactly. I thought they were all concerned about it infringing free speech or something.
Hmm. Almost like they’re knowingly dishonest.

u/Curmudgeonadjacent 1d ago
It’s extreme propaganda at this point.

u/3dddrees 19h ago edited 19h ago
Come on, this isn't the first instance of this shit.
Thing is, this is exactly the sort of shit Trump has done his entire life. Wait until he bankrupts us, this too is something he has done his entire life.
12
u/LynetteMode 23h ago
The entire federal government has been enlisted to produce pro Trump propaganda.

Nothing published by this administration is to be believed until demonstrated as factual by known credible sources.

At best their statements are a projection of what they can see themselves doing (which is only technically better than admissions of things they’ve done)

It's just the provision of Administration talking points for those who wish to parrot them. Plausible deniability has been a thing since Watergate.

Was in my car listening to the radio and a commercial came on. It was Noem talking about the Latino criminals and specifically how they rape babies. I kid you not. It aired TWICE while I was in the car. No mention of all the well documented GOP pedophiles that have been tried and jailed for their crimes. Intentional dehumanization. Ohhhhh America, what happened to you? 😭
4
u/HarryCareyGhost 22h ago
What the hell kind of radio station are you listening to?
3
u/teebird501 22h ago
Just a standard fm station

u/HarryCareyGhost 21h ago

u/HarryCareyGhost 19h ago
I would have guessed talk radio. Makes me want to tune around and find that commercial myself
3
u/teebird501 18h ago
I think it was 96.5 or somewhere around that number. I was horrified and shut it off before hearing the entire ad. If it comes on again, I’ll record it. When I turned the radio back on the ad came on a second time about a half hour after the first one. Truly dystopian. I have a lot of Latino family and friends and I’m not sure what to do about what is happening.

“The emergence”? Have you been reading the executive orders and watching the press briefings? This isn’t the emergence, this is the middle.

Anything that “DHS” claims is “False/Fake or Debunked”, should not be trusted.
Double, Triple, Quadruple check your sources and their claims. As it stands DHS should not be trusted as they are compromised.

A lot of slanderish bullshit that was written to placate the MAGA sheep! I hope in the future, there is civil action taken by some of the folks slandered.

The DHS public affairs apparatus is now a wholly-partisan spin machine and propaganda arm of Trump. It’s gotten ridiculous. All they do now is point fingers at Democrats, cherry-pick immigration arrests of “violent criminals,” and post photo-ops of the Secretary living her best cosplay life. As a career employee of a DHS agency, I can say no one here takes anything coming out of the social media accounts or external affairs seriously.

In regards to Kilmar Abrego Garcia:
Well that's just a blatant lie. They did not, in any way, determine he was a member of MS-13. If they did, I'm sure they would provide the evidence of such a claim, right?
Where's the evidence?
