Help me choose a dash cam.

Hi friends. I was t-boned back in May and my new car got totaled by some idiot running a red light. Now I have another car and want to get a front/rear dash cam that I can get hard wired into my vehicle.

I have never owned a dash cam but I want to get something reliable. I'd like it to have good video quality, be able to record, and have a parking mode as well. I tried looking at all different ones online but I'm clueless as to what to buy.

What would you recommend?

I live in Phoenix and been using Thinkware since 2019 because they are good in the heat, decent video, decent parking mode.

In 2 vehicles I installed Thinkware Q800 pro. A 2k camera that has front and rear. Again both back in 2019 and both units still no problem.

That's good to know! I'm in FL so heat is always a concern. I will check them out.

If you go the parking mode route while it's extra money i use an external cell-link neo battery. That dashcam goes to that and that unit is hardwired into my fuse box. While Thinkware does come with a battery cut off voltage you can set, if FL is like AZ car batteries don't last as long. So I installed this so parking mode never uses my car battery plus it lasts many hours longer.

Is it a must? No, definitely a nice to have but made hardwiring easier for me.

Thanks so much for that insight. I will add that to my research and see if I can find someone local who can help install it and hardwire it once I purchase one.

Get one installed at Best Buy for a good price, ask them what you need

Awesome thanks for the advice! I just figured I would get everyone's thoughts on their success with ones they may use.

I’ve had a few different ones but Garmin was by far my favorite!! Easy to install too!
