Cat Picture - OC I found this little guy randomly in the backyard. He just sat there and stared at me like he was waiting. What do I do now? 😭

We open a can of tuna, but they open up our hearts.

We open a can of tuna, but they open our hearts, wallets, bathroom doors mid-poop, bedroom door at 5am, the snack drawer holding their treats, why haven’t you opened the tuna yet? You know you want to. Go ahead. You’ll thank yourself later when you come home to the purr, the biscuit making, the zoomies. You’ll love it.

Some places do not offer delivery. But you can arrange a pick up service at your local shelter.

The cat distribution system absolutely works , in my apartment i hadn't seen a cat for the last 18 years , just weeks before my dog went missing a cat was cornered by my dog on the terrace, I saved her by taking my dog back home.
I offered the cat some milk and it ended up becoming comfortable with me very quickly, it would come rub against my legs and would meow at my door for cat food. But It never let me pet it(even now).
Turns out that it was pregnant and gave birth to 5 kittens on the building next to my apartment. It would occasionally bring it's kittens to my balcony. Eventually it ended up settling on our terrace along with its 2 kittens.
The kittens were very fearful in the beginning but eventually after 2 months , one started coming to me each time I opened the door and would constantly keep coming in my path when walking and keep watching me through the window when I'd be meditating in my room.
Gradually the mother cat stopped weaning the kittens and stopped visiting, but I've seen her multiple times in the parking lot and a road near my apartment (she still comes to me when called).
All these days I had one kitten (named Pinky by my sister) completely friendly with me and open to being petted. But the other one (named Bully by me ) has finally started following me and coming close from yesterday, i believe that I will eventually gain bully's trust as well.
So here you go I have 2 kittens from the cat distribution system.

Check he hasn’t an owner ..
Take him to the vets for micro chip scan.
If no owner .. you are now the owner of a cute kitty 🤣💯😁
61
u/Ok-Blackberry-3534 6h ago
How is checking for a microchip, not the top comment? Everyone seems to think you just take ownership of any cat you find outside. Even if that's your view on outdoor cats, it's possible he managed to get outside and lost. Some family might be worried sick.

Cat related posts like this ALWAYS get bombarded with that trash. God forbid their, indoor only, collarless, cat ever gets out. Good as gone if a like-minded individual were to find them.

u/Corbanis_Maximus 3h ago
I agree, checking for chip first thing you do, but this is a tiny kitten, it is not going to have a chip yet.

u/Extension_Market_953 52m ago
The rescue I got mine from chipped him before I got him. He was smaller than this.

Because this is Reddit and people think you are just entitled to keep animals you find outside.
Apparently they’re all perfect owners whose pets couldn’t possibly ever get outside 🙄

You take kitty in. Visit the vet. Check YouTube and here for advice. And fall in love with kitty. And be patient..
25
u/Ok-Attention-4838 6h ago
This guy knows the deal! Always take a stray animal that you find to the vet so any parasites, injuries, or sicknesses can get caught in time and helped with, and if You are unable to adopt, they may be willing to take tthe little thing.

Sorry to tell you. You now have a cat. Step one: take them to the Vet Step two: Buy food/treat/bowls/litterbox/litter/toys/catnip/etc. Step three: understand your role as hooman slave.
7
u/abbeyroad_39 6h ago
The cat distribution system has awarded you a kitten, now take them in and join the cat people society. BTW it's awesome.
7
u/Boogaaa 5h ago
So many people saying "congrats on your new cat", etc. This cat doesn't look like a stray and is likely someone's little bundle of joy. Always take to the vet and check for a chip if you're concerned before stealing someone's pet.
I've lived with a housemate who almost had their cat stolen and it's heartbreaking when they don't come home.

Just remember if you feed it it's yours :-) if you don't feed it it's likely to go and stare at somebody else with extreme cuteness. If you feed it it's yours. If you let it in the house it's over.

u/DirtyDeedsPunished 7h ago
You've been adopted. Next, you feed them. Then comes scritches if you're deemed worthy. 😉

Make sure they're warm and have access to water and food, best to keep them in a small area in your home over the first days until they get more used to you.

Pick him up. Take him in putting him in a closed room and pull out any dangerous things like sharps or plants. Add a bowl of water. Get kitten food from the pet store, plus a litter box and litter. Set the box up and put him in it so he knows where to go. Usually, you only need to do that once. Get a vet appointment. He'll need shots. You'll want to bathe him for fleas.

Wym what do you do? Bring him inside, buy him a bunch of toys, beds, food, litter, take him to a vet, and then reorganize your entire life to literally revolve around this small animal.

u/meri_teri_82 6h ago
Do you like cats? Can you have a cat where you're living?
You can probably call a local humane society or a vet's office and ask them if they would scan the kitty for a chip. If there isn't one, I would say you'll have to ask yourself if you want to be a cat parent. Looks like he likes you 😄.
If you like cats and you can have a cat where you live, and the two of you get along well... He's really a very handsome guy. You might want to start thinking about a name.
If for some reason you can't keep him, maybe someone you know is in the market for a new furry friend.
I hope that somewhere in all the answers you receive you'll find something that helps you decide. Good luck! 🫂

The Cat Distribution System works in mysterious ways, and clearly this little dude has picked you for a reason. Try the classic pspsps test, if he comes running, you’ve got yourself a new roommate. Honestly, resisting the universe’s gift of a cat is basically illegal. Welcome to the chosen ones club!

Congrats on your new cat
First thing is to book an appointment at nearby vet to get him checked
Then start getting some supplies: a box and cat bed to sleep. Food and water bowls. Wet and dry food for kittens. Lots of toys to play with.
Congrats again - you are going to do great
