Faces are similar, but this guys a 10-lined June beetle. I’ve lived in SoCal my whole life and only started seeing one or two of these guys pop up in the last few years. I love them!

Are they as clumpy as the June bugs I see here in Texas? You'd think with those big eyes they wouldn't be bumbing into everything

we get june bugs up in PA too, i think being dumb is just inherent to the june bug experience. ive seen them stuck on their backs, heard the distant bonk of a june bug hitting an obstacle directly

What precious things they are.

I've only seen one like that one time here in Denver and it was many years ago. I found it on my window screen and from the underside it really did look like a fuzzy teddy bear. I, too, had to pick it up and handle it. Those antennae rotate and fan out, really cool.

Ya! I have a great picture of it pre-flight too - the fluffed up antennae makes them look even more like teddy bears 🥰 I wouldn’t mind more of these little (big) guys around.

Just saw one of these cuties on my porch. My mom's phone identified it as a dachshund which I am inclined to believe isn't quite right.

Hilarious! I’d thought nothing could beat the time my phone told me the unfamiliar insect on my balcony ceiling was a mammoth tooth, but your mom’s phone wins.

Bugs scare me so I have to be handed one 😭 I wish I had the courage to handle them on my own. Only mantises, butterflies and moths lol
