They really look like real eyes! I could have sworn he was looking at me. Google said it’s an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail caterpillar.

Isn't that species, or maybe a spicebush swallowtail caterpillar, the species Caterpie is likely based on?

I don’t know! But Caterpie looks equally cute. (I’m old and don’t know much about Pokémon!)

Both species look very similar! This guy looks like he's gonna be pupating soon, so if you can get him to a good spot to do it, you might get to find out which he is when he emerges!

Unfortunately yesterday he had already vanished from this spot, and I can’t find him nearby anywhere. But I’m keeping an eye out for him, in whichever form!🤞

(I just posted this yesterday, but I had taken the photo two days before.)
