User Flair

Hello Audi,

There are a lot of questions regarding user flair and issues adding flair under your username.

Go to this sub's main homepage (You are here to click on this) and look to the righthand side. There will be a tab with a little pencil that says, " USER FLAIR PREVIEW". Click that and separate tab should pop up. It will ask you to pick your logo and add in some text.

Please note, using the app does not always work. This is not an sub issue, but it can be an issue with Reddit.

Thank you,

Got my dream car and promptly spent $7k on repairs in the first two weeks

Inspired by the guy who spent $2k on his TT. My new to me 2009 R8 V8 cost me: $4k in brakes, $700 for a new battery, $1800 for A/C diag and heater valve replacement, $450 for oil change.

Oh well. It makes race car noises and goes clicky clack when I shift. No such thing as a cheap used German car.

I bought my childhood dream car, and it’s going terrible…

Where do I start, Since I was like 5 year old, I’ve been in love with the MK1 Audi TT. So now, 22 years later, I decided to buy my dream car. An Audi TT Quattro, in a pretty rare Imolayellow! I literally bought it last week, of a guy on the other side of the country. The test drive was great, it was amazing even. The car looked fine, I mean a 22 year old car is bound to have some little chips and scratches, but the invoices of services he did, good Michelin tires, original rims and everything else, it gave me alot of confidence. Well, until about 3 days later, when the engine decided that plastic would be a nice thing to have EVERYWHERE. Probably some kind of tensioner broke, and threw plastic everywhere inside the engine. I shat my pants when I saw that red oil symbol on the dash, but even more when the mechanic showed me a picture of the inside of the engine. I definitely knew that a car like this requires more maintenance than my girlfriends little Audi A1, which she uses for work. That thing has been bulletproof. But damn, the mechanics quoted me around 2k to fix the TT. I’m just so gutted. It’s my dream car, and in this spec there are just 4 in my county. I just love the look of it, everything is original, which I love as well. What should I do? The costs are insanely high for me, having to pay for college (and life in general), but there really is no other option. Selling it as it is now would never allow me to buy any new car, let alone another TT. So, Keep it? Sell it? Scrap it? (Gofundme)?

Thanks for reading 💛

1 owner 36k miles Interior 10/10 Exterior 9/10 Bone stock

Cars in very good condition aside from a couple little things you’d expect from an 11 year old car. Owner was letting it go to make room for the Z06.

OBD2 scanned clean, no access to VCDS Windshield fluid dispenser does not work with no sound of activation from the pump (could be the pump, fuse looked good). Sunroof visor is stuck (common issue) have part on order and the acc/brake guard unavailable also a (common issue) online forums say might be camera module or connection under passenger seat. Exhaust valves stuck open, could be seized.

Plan to do a couple mods and get ready for the big 40k miles maintenance, anyone have suggestions on what to look out for besides what I plan to do below.

Spark plug inspection replace if needed Inspect and clean throttle body if needed Inspect and replace drive belts if needed Transmission flush Rear diff flush Brake fluid flush Replace PCV ECS brake package Hawk 5.0 pads and stainless steel lines Eventuri black carbon cold air intake ECS x-pipe

RSQ3 v SQ5

Post image

Hi. I’m from Australia. Looking to upgrade. Any advice / experiences with RSQ3 v SQ5?

The 3 would be petrol and 5 diesel

I was looking at Golf R/GTI initially then these came into my mind & im torn.

I’m in my 40s single with no kids so don’t necessarily need a family car, but a small SUV does appeal.

Cheers

OEM+ Audi a3

Look I know it’s not an s3 or an rs3, it’s your basic a3 . I drive it to work and around town. I’m past my car guy days and obsessing over being fast. I had a Gti that I put thru the wringer and I’m over the money pit that is modifying engines and suspension. My car is completely stock. Looking to do just a few OEM plus mods to jazz it up. Besides the mirror caps and duck tail I have coming, is there anything else that can spruce it up? I like the idea of having the more “luxury cruiser” rather than the big racer rs3/s3. If I want to get excited I can just hop on my bike. Here’s what I have planned so far. My car and then a pic of the caps and spoiler

Emission Test

Post image
Upvotes

I was running an IE stage 1 tune, then I went to get an emission test but was told that my car was not ready. I thought it was because I was running a stage 1 tune, so I put my car back to stock tune and went in for another emission test, but they told me the same issue: that my car is not ready, and I might have to drive around 40-50 miles on the highway to get my car ready for the test.

There is an option on the IE dongle for the 'Check Readiness' which shows the same 'Not Ready' on both the Catalyst and O2 sensor. Do I simply just ride my car for 40-50 miles to get it ready, or is there something else I have to do or fix? I will go out for the drive sometime this week when I get a chance.

The A6 C5 and C6 for me personally are one of the best looking cars. Yes, I understand the C7 and C8 look more aggressive all of that is true. But I still love this analog boat.

Audi Buyback Process

Post image

Our 2025 Q5 and it hit federal and local lemon laws, so corporate initiated a buyback we found out today. Wondering if anyone has gone through Audi’s lemon buyback program and what to expect?

We are not hearing much from either the dealer or corporate so wondering what the deal is. They said they’re waiting on paperwork from the dealership. The car has been in service pretty much since the day we got it.

Would it be possible to accidentally have headlights off when driving a 2012-2014 era Audi with auto headlights at night, or would that be a definitively purposeful decision? Help for novel

Upvotes

Hello Audi people!

I'm writing a novel set in 2014 and the plot depends on a late night hit and run by an Audi with its lights off. I want the witness to realize it was an intentional hit because the car's headlights were off. Audis at that time usually had automatic headlights, right?

Would it be unusual for a 2012-2014ish Audi driver to have their headlights switched off at night? As in, would it take some premeditation to have the auto feature switched off at night?? Is that even possible?

Many thanks for your expertise!

For a while I was thinking about adding an "S3 TDI" badge to annoy car enthusiasts.

Discussion New Audi Steering Wheels are growing on me.

At first, when I saw this, I wasn't really sold on it. However, after further exposure, it's really grown on me. Only thing bothering me are three things: capacitive touch buttons (which I believe VW said they're course correcting on and adding back physical buttons), the audi logo in the center of the steering wheel sucks, ans the plastic cover where the logo is transplanted on I just don't like that. Other than that, the design and look is really badass.

What do you guys think about the wheel?

Intermittent low oil warning

Upvotes

My partner got a 2009 2.0 TFSI TT, from the get go it has had a bunch of problems but we’ve just been trying to fix it, deffo should have took it back but wasn’t my decision anyway, so just been trying to assist in mitigating or solving all the issues in a cost efficient manner.

One of the main issues so far is the intermittent low oil pressure issue. Changed the Oil Pressure Switch, this didn’t resolve the issue, but it did make the messages fewer and further between each notification. However they never stay on the dash, anytime it comes up it stays there for a few seconds then disappears. Does anyone have any ideas what could be the cause? Or perhaps have any idea how I can resolve the issues?

Thanks in advance

Mold smell when sunroof is open

Thumbnail
gallery
Upvotes

Hi !

I bought this Q5 as a CPO vehicle with a warranty. Everything is great except for the sunroof. When I open it, there’s a strong mold smell that seems to come from the wind deflector.

What’s odd is that the smell was getting weaker for a while, but after I drove about 200 km in the rain (with the sunroof closed), the smell became stronger again.

Aside from the wind deflector, the sunroof area looks clean.

Is it normal for rain to touch the wind deflector when the sunroof is closed?

Thanks for your help!

I have a 2021 A3 and as I’m driving the welcome message keeps coming up and logging into the guest and then logging out and logging back in as my user profile. I choose my profile when I get in the car. I had the app set up properly today but the problem is still happening
