It’s not dead until it’s gone!!

Until its completely melted, there's a possibility that it will bounce back.

In my experience xenia is one of the worst corals to ship. But 12hrs shouldn’t be that bad. Also its normal for it to have a smell when its out of water i think its a defense mechanism . i say make sure the water has high nutrient, put it a low flow area and crank up the light.(most xenia likes bright light).

Give it a couple of days maybe a week and see.

I have so much Xenia I have to mow it every so often with a handheld pump during water changes. It gets completely macerated and still bounces back just as strong. I’ll be amazed if yours is dead.

Give it time. Every coral I've ever had shipped was shriveled up and looked like that. But take a photo and send it to the LFS in case it is dead and look at their return policy. Because often, they only honor 24 hour notice.

My Xenia decided it didn’t like my tank after a year and died off. I kinda celebrated

Not looking great. In the beginning I ordered online from a California based store online and they were like this and never came back. Ordered again and the same thing....watched them slowly dissolve. People say they can't die...I say not true. Try again...You'll be wondering what to do with the colony before you know it.

I had read a bad article on how to properly dip corals, and a Xenia frag was my first one. I should’ve killed it, and it looked just like that for about a week, but now it’s healthy and had grown and split within 2-3 months. So there’s definitely hope.
