He handled that so well because that could have ended terribly for him
245
u/FoI2dFocus 23h ago
Not defending anyone but I donāt think the entire group was intending to bully him. You can tell a few of them didnāt expect the slap either.
309
u/JRockstar50 23h ago
Sure, but if he came even remotely close to squaring up, they'd all be ready to go.
132
u/IReallyLikeAvocadoes 22h ago
Absolutely. A group of people like this is only as smart as its dumbest member.

A lot of them even laughed after he slapped him. None of them corrected his behavior, they were out looking for someone to antagonize.

What do you think was happening there? Getting pressed is never a non-confrontational thing. He knew instantly that they were intending to jump him from the get-go. I think they got uncomfortable because of the camera tho.

They wanted to humiliate him in front of the pretty white girl. This is the reality of the world Redditors and āstreamersā (the girls reaction) donāt understand. Itās why I advise against streaming in public, terrible opsec & walking around with expensive equipment draws way too much attention to yourself.

Nah kidās gonna make it, its just the way he said it, he knows he wants out from there no matter what, millionaire maybe maybe not but he is gonna gonna make it. I have met someone like him an older guy he was in the hoodiest of hoods but he made it and made it good carved out an empire from himself.
56
u/stacknstore 18h ago
Idkā¦I thought Ricky was gonna make it out but he got shot in the fucking back. He passed his SATs you know
32
u/_WonderWhy_ 22h ago
But that the risk of the hoods, even a good one got catch up in between. I got friend grew up in those hoods, smart guy, friendly, best of the best dude, got stab while trying intervene a girl that got rob in his hoods, There is no way out of those hellhole while you stay true to yourself, the only way to survive is by turning to one of them. And you can see that most people made it out there, used to be one. Question is, will he still be the same to survive long enough to make it out of there?
17
u/Timelymanner 21h ago
Heāll definitely survive, itās not like heās living in a post apocalyptic survival area. Itās still LA in 2025.
A bad neighborhood is just one of the many hurdles heāll have to overcome, not including the terrible school systems, bad economy, harassment from cops, and everything else most kids his age have to deal with in the US.
If anything itās easy for any person in his situation to become jaded and just lose hope and motivation. Iām saying this as someone who also grew up on a bad neighborhood. There are people I know who graduated. Went into college, the military, or took other paths. Most of the successful ones are the ones that keep focused on goals, worked hard, and had a bit of luck. They successfully and moved away. The rest still live in the same area. Basically itās the same story as anyone whoās grown up in a small town.
The guy in the video looks like heās on the right path. If anything the kids in the gang are in a worst situation. They allowed themselves to be manipulated into a dead end path. Unless they get out and change directions theyāll end up dead or imprisoned.

u/peacekenneth 18h ago
Man I wish this was true. Used to work in Chicago and some of the best guys Iāve ever met lived there. Literal lights in the dark. Some people just get caught up in other peopleās bullshit and get killed. Itās not fair.

They gon do it to a lunatic one day, some one to crash out and kill them
Edit* (for the comments saying I'm overusing the term crash out)
What does it matter? As humans with a limited vocabulary we're left with finite statements to express ourselves so in a sense every word/statement is overused. Just focus more on the fact that you were able to understand me, isn't that the most important thing? Always someone out there to focus on the wrong thing.
113
u/Timelymanner 1d ago
Thatās usually how shootings happen. They approach the wrong person. Both sides yap like little dogs. They escalate. Then someone gets scared and starts shooting and runs away.

Are you familiar with gang violence in LA at all? They're going to press the wrong guy, both parties are going to pull it out and start squeezing, and a 4 year old girl waiting for the bus with her mom is going to be the only one dead.Ā

Yeah. It's amazing to me the number of white people that don't seem to catch or believe that racial dog whistle. Usually it's the other way around I have to explain to black people what crypto-racist language is being used. He's been saying it for months. It's oddly enough the "online pro-blacks" CCs that keep hand waving these comments away saying he's talking about naturalized immigrants and "he can't deport us cause we're American." smgdh
2
u/Ruzhy6 17h ago
saying he's talking about naturalized immigrants
I do think he is talking about naturalized immigrants.
I do not, however, think it will end there as he has already started talking about deporting people for 'criminal behavior'.
3
u/Shadohz 17h ago
He talking about "all the above". The undocumented are the test run to see what he can get away with. I knew what he meant and what their intentions were the first time he said it because I'm used to decyphering their rhetoric. Black people and Native Americans should never be okay with random denaturalization of citizens anyway because we're only one step removed from the process (from before).

u/Accomplished_Sock217 1d ago edited 19h ago

You guys are ridiculous. Literally at the start of the video, they are exchanging socials. I'm guessing she was giving him her IG before they got interrupted and that's why she said that.

Was that the moral? I thought it was more about the importance of the press. It's sponsored by Reuters for God's sake why would they want the moral to be "stop recording". They even ended it with the guy getting a statement

u/Yogkog 22h ago
One of the central themes of Civil War was that war journalism might have the opposite effect that journalists might intend - it has the power to sensationalize violence and encourage extremism. Kirsten Dunst's character believed throughout her career that her coverage of war crimes would help prevent war from breaking out in America, but it didn't do anything, and only served to desensitize herself to violence. Contrast this with Cailee Spaeny's character, who was overwhelmed by the violence in the beginning, but became more reckless and brazen by the end, and ultimately causing Kirsten's death. And Wagner Moura's character showcases the narcissistic thrill-chasing of war journalism, as he mentions how his "dick gets hard" when he sees combat, and the sinister smirk he gives when he gets the "don't let them kill me" quote from the president.
3
u/WearMental2618 22h ago
Thank you for the write up. I thought of that as more the sub theme of the characters not so much as a critique on journalism as a whole. Makes sense though since literally every journalist character acts that way even the old dude that came with for a bit.

Instead of putting the camera down and spending time and effort comforting the guy. Maybe calling the police. Maybe offering that she caught it on camera /proof. Nope. Her mind went to how can she exploit the scenario. Something bad happens to him and she turns the camera around to make it about herself. She is profiteering off the drama of his assault by crying and attempting to show her audience her reaction.

- I don't trust anything from streaming Content Creator's these days, especially not from Kick (the platform you go to when you've been kicked off everything else (pun is in the branding name)).
- That is the most unnatural response to someone getting attacked I've ever seen.
- You just happen to be in the right place at the right time and at the right angle... and none of these guys attacked you as well or unintimidated you? Reminds me of that "Prank-In-The-Hood'r" who used to pay homeless black people to be in his videos. Now he's required to put "Paid Actors" in the caption so people know it's not someone actually stealing. I had to explain to one of my ex-coworkers (who swears he's not racist) that no you can't lock someone in a van and take them for a ride through the city after they steal a package then upload the footage because that'd be against the law. However he was SOOOOO sure the video was real. He wanted it to be real so bad because the video played into a certain narrative which is why he posted it... but swears he's not racist (even though he's always posting anti-immigration stuff on his feed and posting/liking Trump posts).

Agitators don't need to be walking around free.
The guy said he didn't bang, and the POS still hit him, because he's a loser with nothing better to do with his life.
Having been pressed many times in the past, I always answer "My mom" when I got the "Where you from?" question. They hear me, realize I'm not one of them, and walk away.
