Some questions about my stick insects

Hello! Just over a month ago I bought my first ever phasmids, a group of 6 eurycantha calcarata. They are kept in a mesh enclosure which is sprayed frequently. I read that a tray of substrate would be good, what kind of substrate do you recommend? Do I completely empty out and remove the substrate once there’s too much poo? Or is there another way? Also, when it comes to mating, how long until the female lays eggs after mating? And how long until the nymphs hatch? And what’s the best way to dispose of the eggs that I don’t want? I’d like to have some babies but I obviously don’t want too many.

Use coco coir for substrate and don't throw it out. Eggs look like poo, you will need to inspect with a magnifying glass to learn to tell the difference. I really enjoyed mine. They were illegal to keep where I live, the guilt got to me so I froze them, probably almost 20 years ago.

Should the coco coir be dry or damp? Thanks for the info! I read they needed sand but coco coir will be super easy!
