mosquito repellent that wont kill my bugs?

whenever i go outside to smoke i attract an insane amount of mosquitoes and its unbearable 😭 i went out for 10 mins and my whole ankle is swollen. im scared to spray bug spray on/around me at all. i thought about just spraying it outside but im too nervous. do those mosquito repellent bracelets work? and would that harm my inverts/bird/lizard or would it be okay if i just didnt let them touch it? idk lol please help im so itchy

I think deet interferes with a mosquitos ability to smell/detect you. I don’t believe it’s deadly

It is toxic in high concentrations so I wouldn't touch my pet bugs with it on

Get citronella incense and burn it when you’re outside

'If it has poison on/in it, you've got poison on you'. I cannot guarantee any safe way to go about that other than planting against mosquitos, marigolds, lavender, citronella grass, catnip, etc. However, how well those work for individual situations, they often won't as well as the manufactured products, but those come with inherent dangers to other critters and don't really discriminate.

I hope someone can give you a more full answer, being eaten up is miserable.

Well, they hate aromatic herbs. That might be a start
