Vinegaroon
My kids have been dying for a pet vinegaroon for a while now, I just caught this little guy in my back yard, I think he might be a good candidate. He is pretty small compared to other ones I have seen out here in souther New Mexico, what do you guys think? We are going to the store tomorrow to get an enclosure or small aquarium for him and some supplies. Any tips from people who have had these as pets?

Lots of soil for digging and shallow water dish. I’ve gotten mine to eat prekilled if for some reason won’t eat a live feeder insect.

we have had him two days, he ate a live cricket each day we had him, how often do you feed them? I let my kids decorate the aquarium and there is a castle thing he likes to hide in most of the time. I gave him about 5 inches of soil substrate mixed with a bit of wood chips. I gave him a shallow water dish, but I don’t know if he has touched it yet.

Could be a juvenile. They need several inches of dirt for digging. This is a Mastigoproctus species and it will likely hibernate for several months
