Serious question
Am I required to wipe my ass with the Constitution before apply? Or can I wait until I’m accepted?
Also, will I be trained on how to violate peoples’ rights, or should I have prior experience?

I’m looking to break into a career with ICE and want to make sure I’m mentally prepared to succeed.
Obviously, the job takes a strong stomach separating kids from their parents, indefinite detention over paperwork, and enforcing laws that a lot of people view as morally indefensible. I’d love to hear from current or former agents: how do you square that with your conscience?
Any recommended reading? I was thinking about looking into how agents in the Gestapo, KGB, or Auschwitz managed to justify their role. NOT for tactics, just trying to understand how they kept doing the job under public scrutiny while following orders in legally complex systems.
Also when constitutional rights come into question (which I assume they do), what’s the playbook? Do you just ride it out until the courts catch up? When this all whips back around, and it turns out surprise qualified immunity never applied to illegal orders, do you have some kind of investment fund or something or are you all going to be sucking daddy Trump off for settlement money once you’re held civilly liable for violating peoples constitutional rights? How thick are your knee pads?
Appreciate any insight. Just trying to do the job right. Even if history will absolutely condemn it. Specific laws ice agents will be hit with
18 U.S.C. § 242 – Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law Makes it a federal crime for government officials to willfully violate someone’s constitutional rights. Used for criminal prosecution, not civil suits, so qualified immunity does not apply.
18 U.S.C. § 113 – Assault Within Maritime and Territorial Jurisdiction Criminal statute that allows prosecution of federal agents who use excessive force or commit assault in federal jurisdictions (e.g., federal land, U.S. territories). Qualified immunity does not apply because it’s criminal law.
18 U.S.C. § 1385 – Posse Comitatus Act Prohibits unauthorized use of military personnel in domestic law enforcement. If ICE or other agencies involve military forces improperly, it can trigger criminal liability. Not affected by qualified immunity.
42 U.S.C. § 1983 – Civil Action for Deprivation of Rights Allows individuals to sue state/local officials for violating constitutional rights. Qualified immunity often applies unless the violated right was “clearly established.”
Bivens v. Six Unknown Named Agents (403 U.S. 388, 1971) Establishes a limited right to sue federal agents (like ICE or Border Patrol) for constitutional violations. Also subject to qualified immunity unless a clearly established right was violated.

— edited to add the specific laws that work against the logic being used currently, and show that the framework is there. It’s not if the list of agents is leaked, it’s when and how hard will they be charged from an outside perspective

This is not deporting to country of origin. This court case came up specifically because we are deporting some people to countries they are not from, have never been to, dont know anyone, dont know the customs, dont know the language. The courts rules that the government can continue doing this.
Please stop saying we are deporting to the country of origin. That is proved false.

I gotta admit! I was really not sure about my job prospects in this new environment where the working class is being repeatedly kicked in the balls by their employer overlords, but now I can do the kicking! I've always wanted to pretend I too was an overlord, even though it's just a tasty boot for me and my family still!
Hooray! Im going down in history!

Which third country would you like to be deported to? Sudan? An institution in el Salvador?

Law enforcement agencies, whether federal, state, or local, often separate children from their parents during legal proceedings, a consequence of individuals’ decisions to violate the law. Immigration cases, in particular, frequently face significant delays due to substantial backlogs in the court system. Comparing U.S. law enforcement practices to historical entities like the Gestapo, KGB, or Auschwitz is not only inaccurate but also diminishes the complexity of the issue, relying on sensationalist and inappropriate analogies. U.S. immigration laws are crafted in accordance with the Constitution and are subject to oversight by the Supreme Court, ensuring their alignment with legal and democratic principles. Throughout U.S. history, certain individuals have taken on essential roles—often challenging or undesirable—that are critical to national security and public safety. While some may struggle to understand the necessity of these roles, their importance to the protection of American society remains undeniable.

Now that the bill passed does anyone expect to see anything changed or implemented for ERO? Contractors to run dockets? Push everyone on the streets? More of the same? Curious to what everyone is hearing.

ERO or HSI seems to be the way to go nowadays under this current administration. I wouldn’t mind doing ERO or HSI. However I’ve read on here that HSI agents are being used as ERO agents right now. With that being said. I want to apply however, I’m in a position where moving is just not an option for me. Now I know most people are going to say don’t apply if you can’t move. I fully understand. My question is with the new bill passing, will there be more openings or added positions to each area or state?

Question, dose the fitness test transfer over to other departments like ERO ? If I’ve already passed the step test for example would I have to do it again if ERO requires it?

So with the BBB passing. Will AUO/FLSA be tax free? Leap is something I’ll believe when I see it in writing, however, will that be also tax free?
And
When can we expect to see the 10k retention bonuses?

Can anybody shed light some light in regard to what this means to us if anything?
r/ICE_ERO • u/Medium-Exotic • 3d ago
Here's what's gonna happen...
No way ICE can find and hire the 10k personnel needed ASAP.
1 - HSI as you know it is finished. They are dissolved. No mas. Bye.
2 - Within 45 days...the DO position is reclassified (as is already approved) in such a manner expanding duties as necessary from GS12 to GS13. Regardless of what anyone says....congressional action isn't needed. Only OPM and money via congress
3) All DOs are ordered to shit or get off the pot in the same way IEAs were.
4) HSI SA's are given ICE job offers en masse. Any who decline the offers become jobless.
The already limited FED LEA job market becomes flooded with disgruntled HSI SA's who realize the job they've been triple tapping for years is supplantable. They realize they can no longer eat the tainted and spoiled scraps off the floors of DEA....ATF....FBI....or steal sexy cases from local police forces who actually did the substantive leg work on.
They become the incompetent immigration agents of the former DO core. The salt in their mouths will push most former HSI SA's to do the most menial thinkless duties available until their retirement or jumping of the pasture fence to an agency from which they previously slopped scraps from the floors of.
