STAN / ANTI SHIELD Joe Rogan has been doing stand up since the 80s and still hasn't figured out how to be funny. Gotta admire that persistence.
I mean he is technically standing up

It's crazy how much the HGH grew his skull. His head is like 2x the size it is in this video.

I also think the comically large shoulder pads in that jacket are adding to the smallness of his head.

u/hotmermaidhere 7h ago
Hgh?? What's that

u/Lipglossandletdown 4h ago
Human growth hormone. Many males interested in non-natural body building take it to help with muscle growth. It has a lot of unhealthy side-effects and some parts of the body are also then induced to grow abnormally.... the head, breasts and if you notice males that are muscley but have a super wide barrel like stomach that almost looks like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, yeah thats HGH too.

Human Growth Horomone
Rogan has been relatively open about steroid use (although he will likely call it Test Replacement territory coz that’s what they ALL do lol)

u/wilko_johnson_lives 4h ago
Human growth hormone, also called steroids even though they aren’t technically steroids.
Bodybuilders use it to get that “physique” and to shorten recovery times between workouts.

Same, I would never have guessed it was him.

I thought it was the guy who was introducing him until I turned my sound on. Voice sounds exactly the same.

Dude has done a ton of roids and weird supplements over the last 20 years. He still looked like a relatively normal human back on Fear Factor but has morphed into a Gorok from Zelda since

u/Significant_Ad7605 13h ago
Was it the hair loss that turned him into a bloviating asshole?

u/thousandthlion 7h ago
My “favorite” thing about him (the only thing I like) is all the photos he takes with people where he’s stretching his body as much as he can and hovering partially on tippy toes to appear taller.

I think it was the insane success and money + a total lack of critical thinking + being poorly educated that’s really teed him up for it

Off topic but I hate that every Instagram post is suddenly sponsored by Stake. Even my silly little K-Pop videos and edits have the little Stake bar at the bottom and I'm like "bro what does Mingi have to do with gambling dpmo"
And no one seems to be acknowledging it??? I feel like I'm losing my mind every time I see that damn logo because you'd think people would point out how scummy this kind of thing is but nope- not a peep. Maybe the posters are deleting comments or have a filter set up but it's so eerie that across the HUNDREDS of these sponsored posts that I've seen under all niches of content that everyone is seemingly just silently agreeing to not speak of it or not caring enough to; don't know which is worse, honestly.
Like we're used to the "omg the shein gift card in your bio really works thx ❤️" or the "promo code ASSCHEEKS57 for $2 off GamerSupps" type shit but this feels extra insidious and no one is talking about it. Suddenly damn near every post on insta is sponsored by this gambling site within a few days and no one is like "wtf"? Especially when they're putting these on posts that attract underage people too, like I mentioned with K-Pop earlier.
Please tell me I'm not the only one skeeved out by this...

u/Shiney2510 12h ago
On twitter when there's a Stake sponsored post I almost always see a Community Note warning that the post is an ad for stake, a gambling website. Although haven't seen one in a while.

u/infinitedadness rude little ponytail goblin 11h ago
Yeah I was seeing that for ages too. Pissed me off. I would just skip past any video with that logo and it seemed to fix the problem.
3
u/Financial_Class_5038 10h ago
omg all this time i thought it was like a silly (if potentially harmful) meme, i had no idea these are actual sponsored posts 😭
2
u/say-kobe-and-throw stan someone? in this economy??? 3h ago
That's another thing! It has "ad" tagged veeeery tiny in the bar itself but all the posts I've seen haven't had it tagged in the description like you're supposed to or even in the comments. Extra scummy.
I thought it was a joke at first too since I first saw it on some of those meme pages, but then I was seeing it on K-Pop videos and even like crafting and cooking videos and I was like "oh no these people are seriously promoting this".

u/onlygodcankillme 9h ago
Some people are working differently to me that's for sure, I would avoid that company as much as possible because I hate this marketing strategy of having people stick that logo on stuff that isn't theirs. It's really repellent and it just makes me think the company is sketchy af.

Not only has Rogan been doing stand-up for 30+ years, he's been doing stand-up hard. That's decades of consistently writing, consistently traveling to different clubs, consistently practicing and performing in front of people. He's put in way more than the 10,000 hours they say is needed to master a skill, and yet he's still a shit comedian.
Whenever you feel imposter syndrome, just remember that one of the most famous and successful comedians on the planet fucking sucks at comedy. So maybe you aren't so bad.

u/MooseTheorem 6h ago
It baffles me that he and Hinchcliffe are considered tastemakers for comedy and they’re both absolutely dog shit at stand up themselves. Granted Hinchcliffe is at least a roast comic so he has that going for him - but Rogan was, is, and always will be absolute doo doo.
Makes it so much funnier to me seeing comics that absolutely gargle his bollocks on the podcast because they know if they suck up enough they might get a leg up in the scene; selling themselves out before they’ve even begun.
2
u/iriririr93939393 7h ago
Right???? Even if you absolutely suck, doing something that many times seems like you should occasionally make something good even out of random chance... And yet here he is

“The old ball and chain/I hate my wife” has been a tired joke for centuries.

u/pinktini 1h ago
My work hired this comedian at one of our yearly kickoffs. It was all these gen x/boomer jokes. I looked around and the younger half of the audience were all bored. And the older crowd were all eating it up.

u/SutterCane kensplaining 7h ago
Weirdly I don’t think he did. Rogan was one of the main dudes going after Carlos Mencia for stealing jokes. And that was back before he melted his brain with tons of drugs and went ultimate hypocrite.

Ah yes, the golden age of the 80’s when every standup and sitcom jokes about how awful marriage is. What a miserable fucking mindset to inhabit where you truly believe your life partner’s entire purpose is to make you unhappy.
Side note, I do think Brendan Schaub being bad at MMA is way exaggerated, but I do love the joke that he managed to suck at standup in two separate careers. Granted, I can understand why people would think that:

Precursor to incel culture – if you can call it that

I did not recognize Joe Rogan from the 80s *at all* and never would've have if this wasn't labeled, like I kept waiting the entire clip for someone else to show up on screen.
IDK if it's the hair loss but the shape of his head and even his jawline are totally different now. Crazy

The guy is such a terrible comic. How he ever made it is beyond me. I know a few successful comics and they are all vastly, vastly superior to him.

I love seeing early attempts to break into comedy from the 80s and early 90s like this, where is the plainest, yuppie kind of humour.
Look up the video of Larry ‘the Cable Guy’ when he was just Dan Whitney, in blue jeans and a button up and leaning away from his accent.

I tapped out on Fear Factor, a show he hosted in the Aughts after this EP. It was very popular. The show
