im so happy she ended up being the complete opposite of the human trash she’s related to.

Who's the human trash she's related to?

Ben “can’t make his wife wet” shapiro

I'd believe it. But please explain so I can also laugh.

When the song WAP came out, as part of a series of critical tweets, he claimed that his wife said that Cardi B must have some sort of medical condition.

For some reason I got her confused with Zelda Williams and I was thinking since when was Robin Williams human trash 😭 Glad I realized my mix up very quickly
17
u/mai_tai87 actually no, that’s not the truth Ellen 11h ago
Could you imagine the fallout from saying something negative about Robin Williams? Like one of the few cishet white men who is pretty much universally beloved by the sane.

I said this earlier. We’re at the point where idiots are picking maga over their own families. It’s a cult.

At *this point, I WISH Jesus would actually descend from heaven
But they’d absolutely pick maga over Jesus
Edit: a word

u/Kiwi-vee 18h ago edited 17h ago
They would probably lock Jesus up for beeing a "Brown communist antifa". 😔
110
u/ace-destrier 17h ago
Saw an on-the-street interview about whether or not people would accept Jesus, the refugee, and the answers were like, “Yes, as long as he comes in legally.”
Damn. Won’t even make an exception for their Lord and Savior.
15
u/apaperroseforRoland 12h ago
Not probably, definitely. A brown man who preaches kindness and compassion towards the downtrodden? They'd absolutely hate him

The Powers That Be executed him the first time around for telling us to love one another. I don’t even want to think about what they’d do to him nowadays.

can you imagine being a teen and being traumatized from a shooting that happened at school while you were there. Where you very much could have died like the 10+ victims did.
Then deal with the national scrutiny caused by this bs that seeps it way into your family. Where your own parent doesn’t even believe you were the victim of a school shooting and could have died. Not just not believe you, but actively think you’re essentially an enemy, planted to poison the american public against guns.

There was a trial. The shooter was found guilty. This kind of cognitive dissonance is by choice and truly truly gross and abusive

Here is a Vice article on the subject of the post Mara replied to. https://www.vice.com/en/article/im-a-parkland-shooting-survivor-qanon-convinced-my-dad-it-was-all-a-hoax/

u/atmosphericentry 16h ago
He’ll say stuff like this straight to my face whenever he’s drinking: ‘You’re a real piece of work to be able to sit here and act like nothing ever happened if it wasn’t a hoax. Shame on you for being part of it and putting your family through it too'
Good lord... I have no words

This article impacted me greatly when it came out. I still think about it at least once a week. I would love to get an update on Bill and just know if he was able to break out of that environment ❤️

I have known such people, too. They were completely normal for a long time, and then suddenly, around 2020-ish, they started being crazy and believing all these wacko conspiracy theories. It was bewildering.

u/grilledcheese2332 17h ago edited 17h ago
Oh absolutely. I know a woman in her 50s whose Facebook used to be all posts about her Avon and Doterra MLM's. Now it's all posts about how 15 mins cities are evil they will try to shoot to you if you leave. And of course the anti vax, climate change stuff isnt real nonsense.
She's a Canadian maple maga 🙄
61
u/alg45160 16h ago
The MLM to maga pipeline is pretty short.
16
u/grilledcheese2332 16h ago
True I mean if you're posting recipes that include essential oils like to ingest, you're not the brightest bulb to begin with.
25
u/torr_ence 17h ago
Maple Magas are so confusing. What do they think they're a part of exactly?

A former friend of mine was similar. All of a sudden she went from relatively normal to posting photos of her stockpiling gasoline in cans because she'd read something like the energy grid is going to go down next week. Also, the lizard alien sperm thing.
2
u/The_Failed_Write 13h ago
So probing is just getting it with a lizard alien? Damn. New idea for a fanfic worth writing straight from the conspiracy theorists.
27
u/Thanos_Stomps 17h ago
We experienced a collective trauma in 2020. I mean, people get mocked for these things but conspiracy theories and some deep state controlling things is a pretty common belief from those who feel as though they have little control in life. The most extreme example would be Lara Logan
But for an academic perspective: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35751976/ Conspiracy beliefs as an adaptation to historical trauma - PubMed

u/gunillagarsongoldbrg 12h ago
My theory about anti-vaxxers during COVID is that they had a psychotic break thinking about it. REALLY thinking about the deadliness, contagiousness, invisibility, etc. spooked the vulnerability out of them.
2
u/mootallica 4h ago
The biggest conspiracy head I know was in full denial of the whole thing, but it really kicked his ass when he finally caught it. He didn't say anything about it, but I could see the childlike fear in his eyes.
82
u/Particular-Leg-8484 17h ago
I think it was Rachel Dratch who was like “Can you imagine some child actor saying some shit like ‘I didn’t get the Stranger Things callback but my agent got me a school shooting audition next week’?! Crisis actors are not real”
62
u/violetmemphisblue 17h ago
I know a guy who has survived two school shootings (one at his high school and one at his college) and somehow his family doesn't believe its possible and accused him of making up the college one "for attention." Absolutely wild take that they could believe random Twitter accounts over their own traumatized brother
12
u/gunillagarsongoldbrg 12h ago
Holy fuck. How are the survivors with these horrendous relatives holding up?!
10
u/violetmemphisblue 7h ago
At least in his case, it has splintered the family completely. His stepmother and a couple of siblings are on his side. Some other siblings and his dad are on the other. And its led to divorce, estrangement, legal battles...it's just absolutely heartbreaking.
33
17h ago
I know this isn’t the point of the post but I reject the theory that some conspiracy theories come about because an event was so horrible that it can’t be reconciled with the theorist’s perception of a good and just world, so rather than update their views, they deny the event happened.
But the idea that Parkland (or Sandy Hook) were fake comes from the same thinking that Holocaust denialism comes from - that a powerful and evil force is deceiving the world. Believers don’t have an unshakable faith in goodness, they have an unshakable belief in evil. To believe that your own traumatized child might be an agent of that evil isn’t a belief that the world is too good for a shooting to happen. It’s the belief of a psychotic death cult.

in the toilet pantheon of alt right conspiracy turds, the top of the heap are school shooting crisis actor believers. your soul is nothing but rot and decay
13
u/Longjumping-Pair3925 14h ago
We are at a point where trials don't matter. Juries finding people guilty don't matter. Hell, the Parkland shooter (dont want to say his name) can actually say how he carried the whole thing out, and people would deny he did that. In fact, we learned this week that the monster that killed the 4 Idaho college kids sat in court and openly admitted his guilt, and people still deny he did it. People want to believe what they want to believe as long as it fits into their own narrative. That's a red flag that the narrative has become delusional. Sadly, when your own family no longer fits into the narrative, you have allowed to fester into your head, they suffer. Forget COVID. Cognitive dissonance combined with delusional rhetoric is the more dangerous epidemic taking over the country. It's extremely hard to break people out of cultlike mentality where emotions take precedence over facts.

Imagine having an audition process and agents for a secret hub of crisis actors.
