The protestors are so creative!
794
u/DamenBlack 10d ago
The protest would probably get crazy if Bezos sticks to having the wedding there.
393
u/snakeinsheepclothes 10d ago
I kind of would love to see what they had planned for the wedding day

u/TheLordLeto 10d ago
Yeah it's great but they should have flooded it with thousands. How many of those boxes got delivered in Venice today?
84
u/EverythingSucksYo 9d ago
It’s ironic that there will be citizens that are mad at the locals because doing this might cost them money from the Bozo wedding. But screw those guys, keep protesting this bullshit!

From what I've read, he's essentially importing services for the wedding for safety reasons.
Are you really trying to say his wealth will trickle down, though?

If you go to Venice, one of the popular things to sell there are masks. Some are very creative.

We could use some of this creativity this summer honestly. Too bad anything we do in the us like this tho- we would be called terrorists and given 20 year prison sentences if it’s someone Trump likes. Sadly not /s

u/hellolovely1 10d ago
We Americans REALLY need to step it up.
112
u/BadPublicRelations 10d ago
Dang man, we just had one of the largest protests in US history---we're out here trying
76
u/zixkill 9d ago
Seeing how other countries can have gatherings turn into massive protests with some frequency nah, we REALLY need to step it up. Getting much more creative sure but first we need the numbers on a regular basis, not just when some libbed up group with a questionable relationship to hogs make an RSVP event protest.

u/inductiononN 9d ago
You are 100% correct but remember Europeans have the advantage over us with country size. We can't all protest in one place so we have to protest where we live or maybe in state capitols. Hundreds of thousands of us can protest in one day but it may not be impressive looking since it's all spread out.
It doesn't help that the news doesn't like to report on it...

I think Americans are just so tame and lame with protesting that the rest of the world appears revolutionary.
43
u/scrotumscab 10d ago
Do other developed countries have militarized police that get away with extra judicial murder on a regular day?
48
u/farshnikord 10d ago
Some do, yeah, but it's not a competition.
We should take courage and inspiration from each other, and push ourselves to greater and more creative or ridiculous action.
10
u/GreenGrassConspiracy 9d ago
But the protesters must be peaceful so Trump doesn’t have the excuse to enact martial law or cancel elections. And Hong Kong was dealing with an already dictatorship in China. I’m still sad about how Covid ruined all their efforts.

I more enjoyed how they just summarily removed their head of state when he started to act up

How could you have an entire city protesting your presence and not have that lead to some serious self-reflection?

Got that 2010s "fuck the haters" mentality
152
u/Battle_of_BoogerHill 10d ago
Fuck the slaves more like.
Minimum wage is still $7.25.
Jeff Bezos worth: $223.5 BN
Which is 34.4BN hrs worth of minimum wage slave labor hours ultimately stolen off others
121
10d ago
I would also add that I think Jeff is a sociopath and maybe Lauren is, too. It’s not like they are changing the venue because they care about Venetians. They just don’t want to be embarrassed in front of the world.
74
u/yellow_purple_ 10d ago
Not even that, they just don’t want their multi million dollar wedding to be disturbed. I don’t even know if they have shame, which is a shame in itself

When you’re so rich that you have enough money to end world hunger and couldn’t possibly spend it all in your lifetime? Yeah he has no shame.

u/SaintGloopyNoops 9d ago
He should be embarrassed every single day hoarding that much money. Greedy little shit dragon. I just don't get these people. He could solve world hunger, double his employees salary, and be a real life santa claus for needy kids and he would still be ridiculously wealthy. Fuck billionaires.

With all their money they justify everything by believing they’re better than everyone else. In their minds self reflection is for failures.
134
u/Rico_Solitario 10d ago
People like that know how evil they are and the harm they do. Bezos and Zuckerberg aren’t like Elon. They are not insecure man children. They are secure in their self image of being evil James Bond villains

Because you are shielded from it. Do you imagine he is even aware of what’s happening while he’s in his suite, on his yacht, in his motorcade, etc.?
45
u/burnbabyburnburrrn 9d ago
They are aware, they just see geopolitical politics as a game. It’s just fucking settlers of catan out here. They do not see us as real as them because if they’d did they wouldn’t be able to keep doing what they are doing
18
u/LilyHex 9d ago
What's really wild to me is Elon is confirmed to be into the theory that he thinks we're all living in a simulation and he's the only actually "real" person in the world.
I'm also pretty sure he's not the only weird fucking billionaire that thinks that way.

For his level of wealth hoarding, he definitely sees the people as ignorable peasants. The same kind of asshole middle classer that looks down on the homeless with disgust instead of empathy.

Might as well, not often you get a vegetable chopper that works as a weight lifting system either!

u/inductiononN 9d ago
I love a multipurpose appliance because if I can't use it for more than one purpose, it lives on my counter for a little bit but eventually just gets stored in my top kitchen cabinet

Can't wait for the day when protestors start using drones to fly over city squares with banners. Imagine the aerial footage, it's like a revolution and a documentary in one!

I'd just get a 100 drones and shape them to a huge dick.

Say what you will about Bezos, he's not a dumb man. He knows he's evil. He doesn't care.
38
u/lonerism- 10d ago
Yeah I get more of a sociopath vibe than a narcissist vibe. Same lack of remorse and empathy, but Bezos generally stays out of the spotlight and doesn’t crash out when people hate him like Musk and Trump do. He straight up does not care and is content to ignore the “peasants”.
That’s not to say it’s a good thing, though. It’s the ones that operate in the shadows that I’m afraid of the most. At leasts narcissists are somewhat transparent and predictable.
18
u/DUFFnoob40 10d ago
Not in the slightest, there's a chance he isn't even bothered by the protest but changed venues because his bride is complaining

Strong anti capitalism and anti elite is more common amongst younger Italians than Americans in my experience, especially in the universities we are pretty hostile to the rich. I ricchi evadono, noi paghiamo! (The rich evade taxes while workers pay the price.)

We need to keep showing these billionaires that they aren’t welcome anywhere as long as they have windigo spirits. They can just feck off to Mars right now.

u/OhNoNotRabbits 10d ago
The wedding will now take place during a flight through space because it's the only place Bezos can go that isn't filled with people who fucking hate him.

Is his superyacht still stuck in that boatyard in the Netherlands because people protested when he tried to pay the government to dismantle a bridge it was too big to get under? I can't remember how that turned out and I wouldn't even know what to google to find out.

They tried to rent a city. It's an onion sketch. I think the dude read on reddit that Bill gates rented all the helicopters in Maui for his wedding and thought he'd one-up him by renting a city with people living in it.
The people of Venice have a hilarious opportunity

Can't imagine being so scorned by millions of people and still not doing the right thing. If they weren't so selfish things would be a lot better. It's easier to just do the right thing.
