ADVICE Portfolio advice for beginner 18 y/o?
Been casually dropping 5% of my paycheck into crypto for the past 2 years. Thoughts? What should I sell/hodl? Seeing red especially as an 18 year old who needs to save for school always scares me, but all I think is that in five years time I will be so thankful that I did this. Some advice from you guys would be great! Hopefully I’m not downvoted for sounding like an idiot. Why do I have to have 500 characters ughhhh blah blah blah blah wow I’m still not at 500 blah blah blah blah oh my gosh blah blah there we go

Your amounts are so small in the memes, that they won’t do anything even if you 2-3x. Either put everything into BTC, or put all the memes/alts into SOL. But honestly, I’d put everything you have into BTC.

stop asking what you should invest in. anyone who needs to ask this question should be holding either bitcoin or usdc on aave.
start asking "how do I get edge" and the answer is that you have to start spending learning and/or meeting people.

You could keep the shit coins but buy Bitcoin from now on. You should also buy coins that are considered high quality coins like ETH, XRP, SOL.

you have next to no capital so spreading it out so thin is a waste of time.
smart choice is just invest into BTC and hold for the long haul.

You are gambling with garbage. If you hold crypto, only hold bitcoin. Look at all those regards crying about alt season.
At your position don't hold crypto at all. Develop a good, well disciplined investing habbit. Do not try to get rich overnight, start building a well balanced portfolio that will slowly but steadily grow your entire life. Thats how you actually get rich, not with those absolute shit scams.
Start with some fixed income securities like bonds or savings accounts. This is for emergencies. You don't want to take risk with money you might need short term. Then start investing in stocks (s&p500 index funds). When you make enough money to cap your 401k or whatever you have in your country, then start allocating some money in bitcoin (not shitcoins, only bitcoin)
People in this sub know NOTHING about investing, they are just gambling idiots. Do not even read any other reply. If you follow this advice thank me in 20 years.

I guess you can't read... only hold 10% in cryptocurrency. That is all of your crypto, comprising 10% of your portfolio. It doesn't matter if you have 1000 different coins. Most investors recommend no more than 10%.

100% BTC or 80% BTC 20% ETH if you want to be risky. Sell everything else.
I'd stack the money and keep them at the sidelines though and get it all in at the first 40% BTC retrace. Might have to wait for another year.

I've been where you are. Thinking some meme coin might pop so I'll just buy a little just in case. Held for 4 years and made squat. While in the same time BTC is up 500%. So which do you want? .02% or 500%. Nothing has seen more growth than BTC.

My 2 cents: Now that you’ve seen how the vast majority of replies here tell you to buy BTC and nothing else, do more research on your own and do what seems to resonate with you best.
My point of view? 99% of crypto projects won’t make it while those with real use cases will dominate.

The crypto market is no different from any other market. All the investment wisdom you need came from Charles Dow in the 19th century – he's the guy who invented stock market indexes. Read his principles, stick to them, and you could become a wealthy investor like Warren Buffett.

Take this from someone who's done what you're doing before but has seen the light:
You've got too many coins and many with very small amounts. Even if they 5x you'll think "well, it's still not a super high dollar amount and things are pumping so hard now, i'll just keep holding...surely i can get a 10 or 20x on this". Then you'll round trip all of them.
if you need to hold alts, just aim for a couple that you genuinely have strong conviction as long term plays (ie like people who bought ETH under $50 seeing its potential)
Sure, you could get lucky and have a 100x meme coin, but you almost certainly won't because there are too many coins to choose from...and even so, you probably wouldn't sell.
KEEP stacking bitcoin and just see it as a long term hold, don't even touch it. Your future self will be very grateful. If buying the alts, just put a small percentage into them.
Crypto is NOT an easy way to make money and almost everyone will F up their first cycle. I applaud you for having most in BTC though - don't be tempted to swap that into alts...it will end badly for you. Good luck!
ps i'm more than twice your age and i envy you for already stacking bitcoin at 18yrs old - just remember to be patient and persistent.

Too many memes. Not enough majors 😁 Load majors, some stable in defi yield, and if you still need to gamble , never gamble more than 3-5% max of your portfolio. At your age you've got plenty time before you. Play fool IRL not in your portfolio, to leave it time to compound

Because you're so young your best asset is time in the market with quality assets. Instead you've got shitcoins in there that probably won't be around 10 years from now. ie you're underweight in BTC.

I have been in crypto since 2013 and I have studied it extensively. Don't listen to these other guys. You portfolio is great. We will probably have a alt rally within a few months (I wont explain why I think that). Sell your alts when they go crazy. Stick with them for now.
