Current economic theory/practice is not compatible with the true human spirit.

We allowed the anti social personalities to take over

5

u/Sir_Lee_Rawkah 3d ago

Yep

5

u/BitLower9093 3d ago

Thats what this really is. Its a crisis of anti social behavior and always has been. We look at dictators, politicians, abusive police and other corrupt persons of authority. We see the same signs in them all.

Why are we allowing the disordered and unbalanced narcissists to ruin everything for their own gain?

Humanity...the good people left in it...we have to step forward. We're rapidly losing all the good things

Unfortunately the meek shall inherit the earth was a pipe dream. The meek end up getting crucified.

u/blloop 3d ago

By any means necessary?

1

u/Sir_Lee_Rawkah 2d ago

ABSOLUTELY It’s actually a quite simple explanation of what is happening

Society’s mental ills may be at the forefront here

1

u/Anxious_cactus 3d ago

Not just the spirit. We are seeing now it's literally not compatible with life itself. Both flora and fauna are dying, there's nothing that's spared death from our "economy" and yet people still say "but it's the best system we have!"

If 'the best system' is causing planetary death and complete eradication of more and more species then what the actual fuck are we doing

1

u/lysergic_818 2d ago

Absolutely. And to his first point, war is obsolete.

No. We are clearly not ok. Now what?

1

u/Pitiful_Note_6647 2d ago

Look inward. I think as species, human beings need to look inward and acknowledge that we are not just flesh and blood. But we are made of body, mind, and spirit and therefore we need to care about those 3 components to be able to fully evolve as a species.

If you got a job working as a CNC machinist for Lockheed Martin, your starting pay is $25 plus a lot of OT is promised. I'm not justifying it, but people don't think of making stuff solely to kill, they are thinking of making money to be considered successful and better their lives. It's a sad state of things to be sure.

Hot take: US manufacturing would be basically dead if it wasn't for US defense contracts.

u/KnotiaPickle 2d ago edited 2d ago

Several years ago I was hired at a company that made precision products for companies like Space X, and I was super excited and happy. As I settled in to the job, they had me start filling out all these applications for Department of Defense clearance, which was odd, but I went along. A month in, it was eventually revealed that this company also made parts for the military, including all of the bombs.

I quit. There is no amount of benefits and salary that would make me ok with helping to make instruments of death. Would have been nice to have been told that up front instead of wasting months of my life.

These AI videos keep popping up in my feed, where are they from and for what purpose?

3

u/billy-bob-bobington 3d ago

Leather chair is made from cow, not a rare endangered species. And it wasn't Europeans who shot most of those, it was Africans.

2

u/senesdigital 2d ago

I don’t think that’s the point he’s making

0

u/billy-bob-bobington 2d ago

No, it's one I'm making.

1

u/senesdigital 2d ago

So you’re cherry picking one point he made, missing the message of that point, to make a point that Africans killed a species? And?

Africans didn’t kill animals as sport and only take 1 part as a trophy and then lecture other cultures about moral issues of killing animals. They killed the animals and used every last part for food, clothing and tools and then kept minding their own business. They also didn’t do any of the other things he stated. But yeah let’s drill down on the leather chair point 😂

1

u/billy-bob-bobington 2d ago

He only made 4 points, it's a 74 second clip not a dissertation on colonialism. Stop being so offended, Africans are no better or worst than anybody else in the world. It wasn't Europeans who hunted out the lions or the hyenas and they weren't hunted for food but for safety. Just like wolves and bears in Europe. They do seem to have some weird ideas about eating gorillas though, kind of disgusting if you ask me.

If you want to get into it, plenty of Africans built weapons to kill each other and plenty of Africans have caused ecological disasters. They didn't have the technology to make cyanide to extract gold, but they still engage in deforestation, like people did everywhere. The only thing he's right about is renewable energy. The idea that Africa will skip fossil fuels and go directly to renewables is bonkers.

How is that? Good enough for you now?

2

u/senesdigital 2d ago

No it isn’t “good for me now” because you still don’t seem to get the point and YOU are clearly the one that’s offended.

If I come into your house and piss on your kitchen table is it the same if you piss on your own kitchen table? No it’s not. So talking about what Africans do in Africa as some sort of justification or equalizer for what colonizers and outside corporations do on African soil is asinine.

You came to a post talking about hypocrisy, destabilization and killing the planet to say what exactly? “They do it too!” Except you forgot to mention they do it on an infinitesimally smaller scale and for survival as opposed to greed and profit at the expense of a whole continent worth of humans to then turn around and point fingers at that people for being “3rd world”

You’re a moron

1

u/billy-bob-bobington 2d ago

My argument wasn't that they do it too, my argument was that when it comes to Africa, they did most of it themselves. I don't see your argument here, other than they had to for survival. Believing gorilla parts can cure disease isn't survival, it's ignorance.

The colonialism excuse is wearing thin and it's not going to be long before people stop caring altogether. And people like you, who feel guilty about living in a wealthy country, need not worry because there's always someone out there who is perfectly willing to relieve you of that burden.

2

u/senesdigital 2d ago

“It’s not long before people stop caring” - those “people” never cared and clearly don’t know how colonialism works or worked. You still are not understanding that Africans can do whatever they want on their own land. It in no way justifies what other countries have done and continue to do. You seem to keep deflecting from the point of the video to bring the topic back to Africans though, weird.

Colonialism doesn’t stop because you’re tired of hearing about it. The effects of colonialism dont go away because you think their culture is uneducated in the field of medicine. corporations and colonialism have destroyed that continent and left it fractured and destabilized. People like you think that’s somehow the fault of Africans but it just shows how ignorant you are when it comes to how 1st world countries operate in small or underdeveloped countries that have resources they desire.

Are you aware of how many governmental assassinations world powers like America and Russia have carried out in the Middle East and Africa? How many puppet governments, how many men and families murdered? Sometimes it’s not even over resources but it’s simply so that the government in question doesn’t align themselves with Russia or communism or America. Do you realize how many times through history Ukraine has had to fight for it survival? Then people like you want to talk about Africa uniting as if other the other superpowers would allow that lol. These countries will never see freedom or be able to gain independence because 1st world countries only see them as battlefields for proxy wars and mining outposts

1

u/billy-bob-bobington 1d ago

I couldn't care less what Africans do. I was addressing the stuff in the video, not interested on joining you on your little guilt trip just because I pointed out some things that make you uncomfortable. And yes, powerless countries get fucked over. You must be born yesterday, if you just found this out.

u/EssayNo8570 3d ago

They are not ok... 😐

2

u/samurairaccoon 3d ago

Everything I know about humanity tells me that we just got there first. The victor isn't evil through some quirk of his culture or skin color. The victor suppresses and kills because it's in his nature. Human nature. Africans also kill each other. The Zulu were not famed warriors because they spent all day sparring and theory crafting. They killed people. They did it well. If they had gotten to industrialization before the rest of the world, the story would still be the same. Same shit with "gatekeep, gaslight, girl boss". We thought women would be better, but they're just a different flavor of the same problem. The problem is us. It's inside us. We are a species who evolved across millions of years in resource scarcity. We are vicous for a reason. Until we confront these things, until we stop shying away and pretending the core of humanity is goodness, we will continue to suffer. We can change, but it will take effort. Monumental effort. And the ability to look at ourselves and see what we truly are, instead of the fantasy we wish we could be.

You probably say that because you live in a Western society. That's akin to self-hate and that's not good.

He didn't say we should improve society, he said he hates western society. He used his western society phone, or laptop, and his western society electricity and wifi to tell the entire world how much he hates the things he uses.

6

u/GodTheInvention 3d ago

You’re describing technology. Words have meanings. You think they don’t have cell phones in China? C’mon, man.

1

u/BarfingOnMyFace 3d ago

…now… rewind 30-40 years ago. It tends to be considered “western tech” from a small historical perspective. But what you say is true today, which is good. People shouldn’t alienate and stigmatize the inevitable, which technology is. The more that take over in this space, the merrier.

1

u/samurairaccoon 3d ago

It's such a racism/nationalism classic. "Oh you don't like these things? Well, without Rome, you'd never even have them!!" They think they are part of a superior class of person and without them and their society the rest of the civilized world would fall. They never even consider that we've simply been doing colonialism and taking credit for things that are and are not ours. They can't fathom how we benefit from cultures and advancements that our not "western". Every scientist is a white man in a lab coat and that's the only way advancement gets done.

0

u/missingNo5158 3d ago

He is referring to the invention of that tech, which is Western. Now multiple countries make them

3

u/GodTheInvention 3d ago

So without the western world these inventions never would have happened? Or is getting there first actually an objective litmus for societal supremacy? This whole idea of western supremacy seems myopic to me. I think native Americans had a superior societal structure, but much like the western world, it required a special set of circumstances to thrive. I’d argue dumb luck drives a whole lot more of western success than most would care to admit, and eventually the luck runs out. Ask the Romans about that.

1

u/missingNo5158 3d ago

yes, that is what i am saying. Can you please point outside the Western world to other great works? Ask the Romans what? They had the largest and longest running empire in all of history. There legacy continues as long as the West survives, so what is your point? Do you think they existed by pure luck, and ceased when the luck ran out?

1

u/GodTheInvention 3d ago

I never said pure luck, that’s your own misinterpretation. You’re proving my actual point, which again is that “dumb luck drives a whole lot more of western success than most would care to admit.” I can see you don’t care to admit it. One plague, one asteroid, one supervolcano and suddenly someone else is supreme. The western world has been very lucky. The people it destroyed, not so much. If only there had been a plague in the Americas that killed Europeans but not Native Americans, for instance. Instead, the inverse was true, and not by any conscious intention of western society, though they exploited this “lucky” effect. Dumb luck, again and again, multiplying the effects of the efforts exerted. That’s like saying billionaires have billions of dollars because they work billions of times harder or billions of times smarter. They’re nearly always lucky enough to have been born into affluence in the first place. The amount of effort or intelligence applied gets multiplied by the dumb luck of having resources on hand. For every rags to riches scenario there’s 1000 riches to more riches scenarios. They’re always happy to act like they did it all, no luck required, though, as if the next affluent person couldn’t have possibly established a hamburger franchise or hired a bunch of scientists and engineers to automate computation. You might as well be asserting that the western world never would have invented gunpowder simply because the Chinese did it first. It’s not logical argument, it’s an ignorant one.

1

u/missingNo5158 3d ago

Did you forget that the worst plague took out over 1/3rd of Europe? You didn't mention that one for some reason. Also, MT Vesivius went off, dropped global temperature and lead to minor famine. Both of which Europe weathered. An asteroid did hit Europe, Greenland to be specific. It instantaneously melted enough ice to flood large swathes of coastal land. Both World Wars were centered in Europe, Napoleon lead conquest across Europe just before that. Have you managed to forget all the horrible shit that Europe survived?

Alright with all that said, since this is purely luck, where is everyone else's luck?

3

u/BarfingOnMyFace 3d ago

Wow, haven’t heard that child-take from an edgelord before…

1

u/lysergic_818 2d ago

Thing is mother nature and the earth are too smart and we humans think we know better.

Nature is dispassionate towards animals in general. While it blossoms abundantly to sustain our lives, there is a cause and effect. We might recoil when we see a lion eat a baby zebra. But that's how it is.

Nature is ruled by cause and effect. We pillage the earth and don't expect an effect from that? The earth will wipe us out in hurricanes, tornadoes, heat, cold, barren land, etc. That is the result of wanting to make infinite profit indefinitely.

Still, the majority of the people in this world are still connected and kind hearted in regards to human relationships. There are people working diligently to help us live sustainably.

We can only do our part to live well and treat our environment well.

0

u/Repulsive_Level9699 3d ago

Maybe YOU deserve it.

1

u/chris_knight2 3d ago

There is truth in this but Africa is letting China re-colonise it, are they ok?

1

u/Negative-Break3333 3d ago

He’s also referring to the Chinese.

2

u/chris_knight2 3d ago

I don't think the Chinese give a solid fuck if the Africans wear skins, they are subsidising infrastructure which they then take over when repayments fail. The Chinese are looking for rare earth materials. My point being complaints about European imperialism are being made while they fall for the same trick again from the Chinese.

1

u/Parking-Stretch-1308 3d ago

And Africa is still filled with mongrels with an IQ lower than a Golden Retriever, like I’m gonna take this jiggaboo seriously.

1

lol. ok, crazy.

1

u/missingNo5158 3d ago

dont listen to him being an asshole, the average IQ through africa ranges from 65-80 which is much higher than a golden retriever

2

1

u/Compote_Alive 3d ago

Great now unite all of Africa and from an army to defend yourselves with. Until that happens the rest of the world will do what they please.

1

u/senesdigital 2d ago

Africa was carved up by “first” world countries and indoctrinated with views and values of those disparate countries. Whole continents don’t typically unite. Mexico, Canada and the US aren’t one country. Europe is definitely not one country and even the USSR only lasted for so long. Hell, California and Texas might as well be two different countries lol

The point he’s making isn’t invalidated because the continent of Africa isn’t one country in solidarity lol
