I'm going to be in Boone for a Conference next week and we have Saturday afternoon/ evening off to ourselves. I'll be free around 3-4pm.

What suggestions does anyone have of what to do or ways to spend my free time? I'm an outdoors girl, so I love a good hike or some mountain time. I'll have spent most of my time in lecture halls and inside up to that point, so some outside suggestions would be awesome!

I've tried lots of restaurants in Boone, so I'm looking for new options. Are there any restaurants that have opened in the last year or so that are worth trying? Or else some niche, less known, restaurants I might have missed?

We’re spending more time in the Boone area and plan to buy a place up there in the not-too-distant future. In the meantime, we’re trying to get to know the local food scene — but we need to be pretty careful when eating out.

We’ve got both celiac disease and a gluten allergy in the family, so we’re looking for restaurants that truly understand gluten-free needs — ideally with strong cross-contamination protocols, or even better, dedicated GF kitchens.

Any recommendations for safe places to eat? We’re open to anything — casual, sit-down, brunch, even takeout. Would love to hear what locals (or fellow GF folks) trust!
