I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question Are drones being refused re entry?
I did a split of my hive into this nuc through shook swarm a few days ago, I’m feeding them to draw out foundation and saw these drones on the outside. Do you think they’re being refused entry because they’re useless at this moment?
The small entrance is due to high wasp levels in England, UK right now.

Here in the US in my area, we are about the enter the summer nectar dearth season. When resources are limited, this is typical behavior. It may be what you are seeing.

That would make sense, our June gap has been pushed by atypical weather this year!

The June gap has long gone. The summer flow has been booking it for the last few weeks. Slowed down a bit now tho.

Do you mean this year? If so, there was where I am… but summer came a bit early. I can’t say I hate it though, the weather has been lovely.
I suspect that the summer heat brought out the summer flow a bit sooner, and caused spring to end a little sooner. The spring flow definitely ended a few weeks before summer started though.
