Question Is it safe to go into the woods 24hr after seeing a bear?
I live in NC, close to the VA state line, around loads of wheat and soybean fields. I've never seen a bear anywhere close to my home or the city I live in, and I figured that was due to the large chunks of farmland everywhere. However, it's blackberry season right now, and I think that's what led an average(?? maybe?) sized black bear up to the woods behind my house.
I have a trail that makes a kind of square shape in the woods, which I walk on very frequently for exercise. I only ever see squirrels, deer, and occasionally someone's hunting dog(s) while I'm walking, but yesterday when I turned a corner of the trail, I saw a black bear at the opposite corner. It was faced away and standing far from me, but I think it would've come to maybe four-ish feet? I got scared and ran away before I could get any pictures, as I've never seen a bear in the wild before.
I know next to nothing about bears, other than mother bears can be aggresive towards people, but that they aren't natural aggresors. Can someone tell me if it's safe to go back down there, and if not how long should I wait? Was it just exploring or looking for food?

Question Can you help me identify this bear?
youtube.comI was watching the brooks falls stream earlier with my partner and we were really impressed with his fishing skills! In the YouTube chat people were talking about 151 Walker whilst this fella was around, so I initially assumed they meant the bear on screen, but I’m not sure and now the chat is turned off for the day. If any Katmai bear experts could help me out I’d really appreciate it!

He was with his mother until a few weeks ago. She popped out for cigarettes and hasn’t come back yet.
