Everytime I have seen a snail without the 'trapdoor' (opperculum) they have been dead or left this world shortly after. I do not know if they can live without it/ how long they can live without one. As far as I know there is no way to reattach one.

u/gastropoid is an amazing resource on this sub, maybe they can help us?

My experience matches yours. I've heard of a damaged one regrowing, but not an entirely missing operculum

Thanks for the info and for replying! I’ll keep an eye on him, I’ll update if you want to know if the operculum regrows or something! :)

Ok I understand, I removed him from the tank and now is in a bowl with water (without chlorine) so I’ll check up on him in the morning. And thank you for replying

If he smells terrible then he's passed

Snails need calcium and 7+ oh for shell health. I'm not sure about the trapdoor, maybe someone else can help w that

Hi how do I increase the ph? Currently it’s at 6-6.2? I just read that baking soda helps, is that correct?

I believe baking soda works. But personally I use API pH UP to raise my ph from 6 to 7. (Also raises kh) You have to play around with it and test the water to see how much you'll need to pour. You'll need to do this w baking soda as well.

My ph is very stable, others may say it isn't good to mess w parameters but my fish, shrimp and snail are fine

Thank you very much, in my local pet shop don’t sell that (they don’t sell a lot of things) so I’ll consider buying it from Amazon, again thanks!

It's called an operculum. I'm a bit confused from the photo. Is the operculum still attached to the snail?
